In 1883, Thorens began making music boxes, then in 1906, they manufactured gramophones and then went on to making direct drive motors. In 1929, the firm marketed the first electric pick up. In 1957, it revolutionised vinyl record playback with the introduction of the famous TD 124, still a highly coveted product to date. Nowadays, Thorens is a major player in the Hi-Fi industry and has retained the same exacting standards in the design of its models as it always has and, naturally, reliability, precision and elegance are the standard.
