The Thorens PHS 150 is equipped with DIN and RCA connectors insulated with PTFE. PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene), commonly known as Teflon, is an excellent electrical insulator with very low dielectric losses. The RCA, DIN, and ground lug connectors are gold-plated with 24 karats. The gold plating provides excellent conductivity and corrosion resistance, ensuring reliable and durable contact. The connector housings are lightweight, made from 6061 aluminum. This aluminum alloy is commonly used for its light weight, strength, and good machinability.

The conductors are made of very fine strands of pure silver combined with a Litz wire construction with enamel insulation. The Litz wire consists of many very fine strands individually insulated with enamel varnish, then twisted together.

This construction ensures precise and undistorted signal transmission.

This cable offers excellent conductivity and an extremely low capacitance of less than 90 pF, ensuring a linear frequency response even with low-level MC cartridges.

The architecture employs two separate twisted pairs.

They are insulated with high-density polyethylene (HDPE) dielectric. To ensure effective shielding, Thorens has chosen a shield made of Mylar and silver-plated copper. Mylar is a polyester film used as insulation, and the silver-plated copper provides effective shielding against interference.

The outer sheath is made of high-compression PVC compliant with RoHS/REACH standards, and an antistatic outer coating is added.

Thorens subjects all its cables to a 48-hour break-in process. The break-in involves running a device or cable for a certain period to stabilize its components and optimize its audio performance.
