FAQ: Everything you need to know before buying the Rega System One pack

What is the benefit of choosing a system made entirely of Rega components?

Coherence. The Planar 1 turntable, IO amplifier and Kyte speakers were designed by the same manufacturer to work together and share the same signature: rhythmic, lively and musical listening. Brought together at a preferential price, they form a balanced system, with no risk of a poor match between the components.

Is a separate phono preamp needed, or is the amplifier enough?

In this pack, the amplifier is enough. The Planar 1, fitted with a Rega Carbon MM cartridge, has no built-in phono preamp, but the Rega IO has a carefully designed MM phono stage to which the turntable connects directly. No additional box is required.

Does the turntable arrive adjusted, and how are anti-skating and speed handled?

All our turntables are mounted, adjusted and tested in our workshop before shipping, whether sold on their own or in a pack. The Planar 1 keeps things simple: its RB110 tonearm uses fixed anti-skating compensation, already set for compatible cartridges. Switching to 45 rpm is done by moving the belt onto the motor pulley.

How should the Kyte speakers be placed, and is the cabling supplied?

The Rega Kyte come with a small foot offering several orientations; they sit on a console or in a bookshelf, around fifteen centimetres from the rear wall. Spacing them about 1.80 m apart already gives a fine stereo image. The pack includes a set of Rega speaker cables (2x3m) to connect the speakers to the amplifier.
