Nagaoka JT-80 LB MM cartridge

The “Jeweltone” range was created in 2020 by Japanese manufacturer Nagaoka to celebrate the brand’s 80^th anniversary.

In addition to the famous cartridges of the MP range, there are now two Jeweltone JT-80 models introducing a new design and style: the JT80 LB and the JT80 BK.

According to Nagaoka, the firm is said to produce 90% of all diamonds used for modern cartridges currently on the market, making it the largest producer in this field.

The JT-80 LB “Lapis Blue” model features an aluminium cantilever and elliptical diamond.

The generator provides high output voltage (5 mV) perfectly adapted to built-in phono preamps inside amplifiers. 

The Nagaoka Jeweltone are suitable for average mass tonearms, and the JT80 LB seems perfectly suited to entry-level and mid-range turntables or Hi-Fi systems.

The Nagaoka JT80 LB provides a dynamic and compact reproduction. There’s the typical low-end spectrum of Nagaoka cartridges. Bass is very precise and articulated as well as powerful. Midrange features beautiful timbres and realistic clarity. Treble provides a very vibrant listening experience. Of course, the cartridge is not as precise and open as the “Black” version, but it’s a more “modern” and neutral version than the Nagaoka MP110.
