Description

The Indiana Line Nota 260X bookshelf speaker was designed for small two-channel or multichannel Hi-Fi setups. This compact speaker allows you to build a high-quality, affordable Hi-Fi system.

INDIANA LINE NOTA 260X: SPECIFICATIONS

The mid-bass is reproduced by a 166 mm driver with a polypropylene cone. The high end is reproduced by a 26 mm textile dome tweeter.

The woofer is a bass-reflex design with a port that opens at the top rear of the speaker.

The crossover is simple but effective. It uses air-core inductors and polypropylene capacitors. It sets the crossover frequency at 2,600 Hz.

Internal damping is provided by high-purity non-woven synthetic foam, known for its excellent ability to dampen internal resonances.

The connection to the amplifier is made via a high-quality, gold-plated single-row terminal block. It accepts bare wires or banana plugs.

Its base is made from wood-grained MDF panels.

INDIANA LINE NOTA 260X: SETUP

We tested the Indiana Line Nota 260X with a small amplifier rated at about 40 watts. We recommend spacing them 2 meters apart and placing them at least 25 cm away from the rear wall. Ideally, position them between 50 and 70 cm above the floor. They’ll perform well in rooms with an area of less than 20 m².

INDIANA LINE NOTA 260X: REVIEW AND LISTENING IMPRESSIONS

The initial measurements were a real surprise! They deliver a superb soundstage, both in width and depth. The sense of spaciousness is surprising for a speaker in this price range. The bass is impressive and lends excellent depth to the music, while delivering fast and perfectly controlled impacts, even with a modest amplifier. Vocals are reproduced with great clarity and transparency. The midrange is dynamic and well-defined; the various instruments are perfectly discernible and well-defined. The treble blends seamlessly with the other frequency ranges. The tweeter captures a wealth of detail without excessive brightness. Instrument separation is excellent—and on some tracks, downright impressive.

But the main strength of these speakers—as found in most Indiana Line products—is their ability to effortlessly convey the energy contained in the music, making you want to tap your foot. No matter what style of music you’re listening to, they fill the room with ease and spontaneity. They offer all the qualities of the Indiana Line Nota 250X, but with a fuller sound, better dynamics, and more impact in the lower frequencies.

Their overall performance far exceeds their price point, and they deliver incredible, unexpected quality for this price range.

FAQ: Everything you need to know before buying the Indiana Line Nota 260X

What kind of system is the Nota 260X intended for?

It is a bookshelf speaker developed for small two-channel or multichannel Hi-Fi systems. It lets you build a quality system at an affordable price, in a measured space.

How should these speakers be positioned?

Tested with an amplifier of around 40 watts, they are best spaced 2 metres apart, kept at least 25 cm from the rear wall and placed between 50 and 70 cm off the floor. They are comfortable in rooms under 20 m². The bass-reflex port vents at the top rear of the speaker, which explains the recommended distance from the wall.

What is the driver configuration?

It is a 2-way bass-reflex design with a 166 mm polypropylene-cone mid-bass driver and a 26 mm textile-dome tweeter, loaded by a port venting at the top rear of the speaker, with the crossover frequency set at 2600 Hz. The crossover is simple but effective. It uses air-core inductors and polypropylene capacitors. Internal damping is handled by a very pure non-woven synthetic foam, known to be an excellent absorber of internal resonances.

What connection should I plan for?

Connection to the amplifier is via a single, excellent-quality gold-plated terminal, which accepts bare wire or banana plugs. The sound offers a fine soundstage, surprising bass for the size, clean and transparent voices and a well-integrated treble, even with a modest amplifier.
