The Atoll CD200 Signature CD player completes the range of the French manufacturer, already well full. For sure, it could be associated to Atoll IN200 Signature and IN300 integrated amplifiers, and to the ST200 Signature network player.
ATOLL CD200 SIGNATURE: FRONT PANEL
Of course we find the superb aluminium front panel, which is today the trademark of the manufacturer Atoll on its “Signature” products. It is available in black or white aluminium.
The front panel is clean but offers most of the necessary functions accessible via 6 buttons (3+3) on either side of the drawer opening. Under this, there is a blue OLED display.
Atoll supplies this CD player and all its products with a universal remote control.
ATOLL CD200 SIGNATURE: BACK PANEL
The back panel is also very simple: 2 RCA analogical outputs, 1 SPDIF digital coaxial output and 1 Toslink optical.
The power cable is IEC format.
ATOLL CD200 SIGNATURE: TECHNOLOGY
Once the cover is removed, we see a pure audio mechanics. It has been optimized for a noticeable reduction in jitter, and mounted on an anti-resonant chassis.
This mechanics is CD text compatible. It is compatible with CDs, CD-Rs, CD-RWs and MP3, WMA and AAC formats.
The linear power supplies of the audio stages are produced by low noise toroidal transformer of 30 vA. It is the same for the linear power supply of the digital stages.
The CD200 Signature is equipped with 7 regulated power supplies including a double low noise specific for the DAC. This conversion has been entrusted to the BURR-BROWN PCM1792. This famous “chip” offers a resolution up to 24 bits/192 kHz, a dynamic of 129 dB and a signal-to-noise ratio 129 dB!
The differential output stages are completely discrete component and are Class A polarized.
ATOLL CD200 SIGNATURE: TEST AND LISTENING
The Atoll CD200 Signature offers a restitution of a great subtlety and a remarkable elegance.
Its neutrality makes it very versatile in terms of music kinds. This CD player is very well balanced and the timbre quality is unique.
We can also highlight the very evident dynamic, combined to a perfect resolution.
The Atoll CD200 Signature CD player is a real surprise. On various tracks, he reconciled us with this format, which indeed, still has many things to say!
