As always, the US firm has a knack for finding the right partner! For the design of this phono preamplifier, as well as for the MoFi UltraPhono, it has called on a famous player in the Hi-Fi industry, Tim Deparavicini, who is none other that the founder and designer of EAR Yoshino's electronic products!
The Mofi StudioPhono phono preamp has an unusual flat and long design!
Its modest size (10 x 17 x 3.2 cm) will easily fit anywhere. The top has two push buttons.
The build quality is great, even better than other products in this price range.
MoFi StudioPhono : Running and connection
The one on the right controls the subsonic filter. It cuts the response in the sub-bass frequency and reduces any unwanted movement of the speaker's diaphragm in some layouts. Playback is more precise and cleaner in the bottom of the spectrum.
The second button activates a real mono mode! It works great with monophonic records and is unfortunately too rare with phono preamps, and even fully exclusive for a product of this range!

The back panel has an RCA input and output pair, a ground plug and a 3-pin DIN connector for the external power supply.

The underside has a DIP switch to select the gain (40, 46, 60 or 66dB) and resistive load (75 ohms, 100 ohms, 500 ohms 1 kohms, 10 kohms and 47 kohms ).

MoFi StudioPhono : Listening and test review
Reproduction is amazing, even baffling! For this price, few phono stages have such presence and dynamics!
The level of details is amazing, and all the instruments come to life perfectly, even on complex pieces. Naturally, it is dependent on the quality of the phono cartridge andvinyl turntable.
I have to admit that the StudioPhono most convinced me with MC models. The gain is good and, above all, it is silent enough to be seamless and leave all the qualities of the moving coil cartridges to be expressed. It has the subtleness and realism that is typical of this technology.
If we consider its capabilities, adjustments, versatility, mono function and price, the MoFi StudioPhono phono preamp is definitely the best deal to date!

Très belle découverte
J'écoute depuis 3 semaines ma platine REGA P6 avec une cellule MC ANA SL, sur instructions de Frank j'ai acheté un préampli MoFi StudioPhono. Quel bonheur d'écouter mes anciens vinyles des années 60' et 70'. Je découvre même des sons qui auparavant m'étais inconnus. I purchased this hoping for an improvement over the built-in phono stage in my vintage receiver - but I have not expected that the improvement will be as huge as it is! The Mofi StudioPhono is super quiet, very musical and detailed. I can't stop listening to it, I am going through my vinyl collection again and discovering how it should sound!
