AudioQuest Storm Hurricane High: Features

This new power cable uses solid Perfect-Surface Copper Plus (PSC+) conductors. The drain wire is made from PSS (Perfect Surface Silver), a 100% perfect-surface silver conductor.

While many power cables focus solely on low resistance to meet high current demands, a cable’s characteristic impedance is also crucial for optimal performance. Unlike most cables that compress or restrict current transients, AudioQuest power cables combine low DC resistance with ZERO characteristic impedance. This allows uncompressed delivery of high-current transients.

The Hurricane is fitted with high-end connectors from the Storm series, featuring silver-plated copper layered over red copper and beryllium. These premium AudioQuest power connectors provide even lower distortion and improved dissipation of high-frequency noise.

AudioQuest Storm Hurricane: Shielding

The cable also incorporates AudioQuest’s proprietary DBS (Dielectric-Bias System). A module on the cable applies a 72V polarization to the shielding. All shields are also equipped with a dielectric whose electrical properties affect signal integrity.

The DBS-polarized shielding (patented by AudioQuest) creates a powerful and stable electrostatic field that saturates and polarizes the insulation. This minimizes noise and prevents RF interference from entering the electronics.

The DBS batteries have an estimated lifespan of around 10 years. A test button on the module allows the user to check battery status.

The AudioQuest Storm Hurricane also features RF/ND technology. While ground wires protect against short circuits, they can also act as antennas and are therefore susceptible to radio-frequency (RF) interference. These RF signals can bypass power supplies and couple directly into the most sensitive audio or video circuits. This patented circuit topology uses a common-mode phase-cancellation network combined with exclusive dielectric materials to provide additional linear differential filtering.
