The MoFi UltraPhono Pro features a dedicated aluminum chassis with an elegant appearance. Its dimensions are fairly standard, and its height of less than 7 cm makes it easy to integrate into most systems.
The front panel provides access to all the necessary settings to ensure compatibility with most MM and MC cartridges.
On the right side, there is the orange power button for the UltraPhono. Next to it, four small buttons allow you to select:
- Dim: Adjusts the LED backlight by pressing repeatedly to achieve the desired brightness.
- Mute: Silences the device.
- Subsonic: Cuts low frequencies that may cause vibration when the turntable is placed near speakers.
- Mono: Intended for mono cartridges or mono listening.
Two knobs allow adjustment of the input load from 100 to 47,000 ohms and gain from 40 to 65 dB.
MoFi UltraPhono Pro: Connections
On the rear panel, there are high-quality gold-plated RCA unbalanced inputs. Outputs are available in both unbalanced RCA and balanced XLR. The internal design reflects a fully symmetrical dual-mono architecture.
In the center, the MoFi UltraPhono Pro offers two separate ground terminals:
- One for chassis grounding, allowing grounding of turntables with single or multiple grounding points (motor and plinth).
- One for signal grounding, used to ground the tonearm.
Power is supplied via an IEC C13 connector, allowing the use of an upgraded power cable if desired.
MoFi UltraPhono Pro: Technology
This preamplifier is designed to be both simple and highly efficient.
Its goal is to preserve signal integrity while extracting maximum information from the cartridge with minimal loss. Setup is quick and repeatable thanks to front-panel gain and loading controls, making it easy to optimize sound performance during listening.
The MoFi UltraPhono Pro is built around a fully discrete J-FET and MOSFET gain stage using top-quality components selected for their sonic performance. It also features a passive RIAA network without feedback. Precision thin-film components ensure RIAA equalization accuracy within ±0.05 dB.
These design choices are intended to preserve transients, naturalness, and tonal realism without altering the source signal.
A complex seven-stage regulated power supply ensures exceptionally quiet operation, strong dynamics, and full preservation of the finest details.
