The motor consists of dual magnets utilizing "VM" technology. Instead of using a single large magnet, the two magnets are arranged in a "V" shape. They are precisely positioned to correspond to the left and right channel positions.

PCUHD (high-purity oxygen-free copper) is now used for the coil leads in all models. With the Audio Technica VM 760x SL, you find a sound reproduction quite close to the AT 760 SH, but with some subtleties.

It offers remarkable tracking ability and a nonexistent surface noise level.

The high frequencies are very precise and particularly defined. They are brimming with details without being overly emphasized.

The midrange is, as always, clear, open, and airy. We are far from a dark or dull reproduction.

The bass, like with all Audio Technica cartridges, is perfectly controlled and articulated. In this range, we are very close to the performance of a similarly priced MC cartridge! The low end is dynamic and physical. The articulation is remarkable, and the definition is surprising. The overall performance is perfectly controlled and articulated without losing nuance or subtlety.

The overall sound seems more dynamic and lively than on the SH model.
