Atoll IN200 Signature integrated amplifier [End of life]

The Atoll IN200 Signature integrated amplifier is the replacement for the IN200 SE model. It fits logically between the Atoll IN100 SE and IN300 integrated amplifiers, but seems to be closer to the latter in several respects.

Atoll IN200 Signature: chassis and front panel

The IN200 Signature features a high-quality, 8mm-thick aluminium front panel and a 1.5mm-thick metal chassis. The rigidity of the whole prevents any mechanical vibrations.

The top of the device is perforated for better heat dissipation.

The controls on the front panel have been kept very simple. All functions are available via 2 large ‘logic’ and ‘rotary’ buttons. These are used to switch on the device, select the source, manage the volume and adjust the balance.

All these settings can also be accessed via the remote control supplied.

There's also a 6.35 mm headphone output on the front panel.

Atoll IN200 Signature: rear panel

The rear panel features 4 analogue inputs, 1 tape input/output, 1 bypass input and a double pair of preamp outputs.

This double pair of preamp outputs allows either a power amplifier to be used on one output, or the 2 preamp outputs to be used to connect 2 power amplifiers (bi-amplification).

It is also possible to connect a subwoofer to one of these preamp outputs. The bypass input can be connected to a processor or a home cinema amplifier.

Atoll IN200 Signature: specifications

Internally, the IN200 SE schematic is the same, but with a number of quite distinct changes.

Atoll has installed one volume control per channel. They are identical to those on the IN300, and improve channel separation and therefore stereo and signal-to-noise ratio.

The audio stages are fitted with shielded Mundorf MKP capacitors, also similar to those used on the IN300, which also improve the signal-to-noise ratio and, above all, musicality.

All the stages are in double mono and are powered via 2 toroidal transformers of 340VA each. These 2 high-value transformers provide a comfortable listening environment for both the pre-amplification circuits and the power stages.

The Atoll IN200 Signature has a total capacitance of 86400 microfarads! The differential input stages are bipolar transistors and the output stages are MosFet transistors. The ESR capacitors are made to Atoll's specifications.

Power is comfortable with 120Wrms/8Ω and 200Wrms/4Ω, i.e. 2 x 50W in pure class A. This means it can be used with a wide range of Hi-Fi speakers, even those with a reputation for being difficult to drive.

A specific low-consumption power supply (5VA) has been dedicated to managing the display and logic circuits. This power supply manages, among other things, the attractive window with the very low consumption OLED Display.

Atoll IN200 Signature: test and listening

Listening to this Atoll IN200 Signature integrated amplifier, we find all the qualities that made its predecessor such a success, but with clear improvements in terms of transparency and dynamics.

Of course, you'll find all the neutrality associated with the brand.

Bass response is exceptional for a product in this range. It does as well as many of its competitors, who charge 2 or 3 times more!

The midrange is very precise and realistic.

Voices show no harshness or imprecision. We are easily projected into the recording environment.

With a pair of Hi-Fi speakers of the same quality and a source of the same level, the reproduction of the Atoll IN200 Signature is faultless in its neutrality, realism and musicality.
