The 3050 bookshelf speakers developed by the British manufacturer Q Acoustics come in 5 amazing finishes and once again, the brand scores a good quality and affordable product. The 5 variants are: graphite, black walnut, leather, glossy white and glossy black.
The Q Acoustics 3050 floorstanding speakers are the flagship of the new 3000 line. It features a next-generation dome tweeter with concentric rings. It sits in the middle of the two 165 mm mid-bass speaker drivers that take on the acoustic loading. Their cones are made of aramid/paper fibre. You will notice the accuracy in the choice of electronic components used to filter the speaker drivers. The baffle has been meticulously designed to improve rigidity. This minimises any unwanted resonance transferred to the baffle by the speaker drivers' vibrations. The front panel has been reinforced with a metal plate. You will also notice that the terminal blocks are underneath the speaker. It is a pair of connectors for bi-wiring or bi-amplification.
These floorstanding speakers deliver a very detailed sound and an amazingly open soundstage. They will work great with orchestras, delivering subtleness and texture. The smoothness of the sound reproduction is pleasant over lengthy playback sessions, with no harshness to be heard. Playback is gentle with plenty of details, the timbre's realism is quite amazing for a speaker for this price.
