The1-Xpression turntable is an integral part of Pro-Ject's history. The brand currently offers the 4th upgrade to its product, the 1-Xpression Carbon turntable. The name is derived from the new full carbon tonearm it features. It comes with the Ortofon 2M Red cartridge, a benchmark in the range. It has an excellent and very uniform sound definition. This turntable is very versatile and is a breakthrough with respect to the former versions.
With the 'Classic' variant of the 1-Xpression Carbon, Pro-Ject offers a new version of its best buy. The platter is now in solid polished aluminium. The plinth of the turntable is available in four finishes: glossy black or white and mahogany or olive veneer. It comes with a unique cartridge, the Ortofon 2M Silver cartridge, specifically designed for Pro-Ject and it is very simple to use. It is a great success and its advantages make it a serious competitor within this price range!
The 2-Xperience Acryl turntable is the manufacturer's first turntable to be entirely made of acrylic. It features the brand's now famous 9CC Evo tonearm and the excellent Ortofon 2M Red cartridge. This turntable is visually beautiful and the all-acrylic design will no doubt appeal to most of you out there! In terms of musicality, you'll be surprised by the quiet side of this record player, as it seems tamer and less exuberant than its competitors. We highly recommended it!
The X-tension 9 CC Evo turntable with the latest of Pro-Ject's Evo range. The 9 CC Evo is fitted with a 9-inch tonearm, its beautiful platter is polished in solid aluminium and the built-in speed controller allows you to switch from 33 rpm to 45 rpm format via two selector switches. The turntable comes in a beautiful wooden box and is quite easy to set up. Playback is expressive and nuanced, the sound stage is amazing. The production quality is a cut above many more ambitious record players, as evidenced by the awards it won this year: the EISA Award 'Best Product 2014 – 2015', and the Choc de Classica!
The Rega RP3 turntable follows the direct lineage of the British manufacturer's Planar series. This turntable was designed to provide its users with the best sound quality. It boasts all the qualities that have made the British brand so popular and iconic. And for fans of the UK, Rega has released an RP3 Union Jack variant adorned with a Union Flag that comes with a Rega Elys II cartridge! And the icing on the cake, this amazing turntable won the What Hi-Fi award for 'Product of the Year 2013'!
Rega's RP6 turntable builds on the architecture of the RP3 with naturally a number of improvements, like a new RB303 tonearm, a new motor, and other features. The expression and dynamic range of the bass are fabulous, the quality of the vocals and their timbre will give you the impression that the singers and musicians are performing live in your living room. It ranks among the top three turntables for less than €1,500. The Rega RP6 is also available in the RP6 Union Jack variant to remind you of the manufacturer's origin! Nowadays, the name Thorens is an integral part of the history of High-Fidelity. For almost 60 years, the company has strived for excellence in terms of design and production of its products. And naturally, reliability, precision and design are part of the quality package.
The Thorens TD 209 turntable is the latest in the range. It uses most of the elements of former models: the turntable has a glossy black, red or white finish, but what stands out is the very distinctive design, a 4 pointed asymmetrical star shape, reminiscent of the TD 309. The timbres are precise and rich, not harsh, and the sound stage is wide and deep and precise. And this year it won the 2014 Diapason d’Or award! We highly recommended it!
Clearaudio's motto is "Take the best and make it better, only then is it just good enough". This shows in the products, continuously striving to reach the highest standards. And with time and patience, Clearaudio has become a benchmark in the Hi-Fi industry, with the widest range on the analogue audio market.
Clearaudio's two latest great turntables, the Bluemotion and the Blackmotion, use the technical and design elements that have made the Emotion SE MKII turntable so popular: an opaque acrylic plinth, that is available either in a beautiful blue finish (for the Clearaudio Bluemotion turntable), or in a vivid matt black finish (for the Clearaudio Blackmotion turntable). They come with the superb Satisfy Aluminium tonearm, associated with the Clearaudio Concept MM V2 cartridge. It's very difficult to be critical about the products. The sound quality is detailed, dynamic and very clean. But above all, for the price, you won't find a better deal: the price of the two turntables is under €1,000! A first for Clearaudio! Note that they are available as a limited edition!
Since the beginning in 1978, VPI has been thriving on the success of its products, from the first record cleaning machine right up to the TNT turntable, not forgetting the famous JMW Memorial tonearm. To date, the manufacturer is still a major player and ranks among the most prestigious brands in this sector. And naturally, all their products are made in the USA.
The VPI The Traveler V2 turntable is the US manufacturer's first turntable to be exclusively 'made in the USA' within this price range. It is still the manufacturer's cheapest turntable to this day! Right from the opening bars, you'll find the elements that have made the VPI Traveler V2 a success: the high precision aluminium tonearm and the stainless steel platter. The platter rests on four new conical feet that dampen vibration. The new and more discrete motor was specifically developed to be as silent as possible. Finally, the sound is detailed and more precise. This turntable delivers a refined and dynamic sound, a very high end design and is very easy to use. A Best buy!
