Sheila and Harry Weisfeld founded VPI in 1978 with the aim of becoming a worldwide benchmark on the record cleaner market. They soon became successful with the launch of the famous HW-16. Concurrently, VPI manufactured direct drive motors for DENON and JVC turntable models. Then in 1985, the company launched the turntable that is still an international benchmark to date, the 'TNT', as well as the highly coveted and famous JMW Memorial tonearm. Note that many high-end speaker and electronics manufacturers use this turntable in their show rooms! To date, the brand is still a major player and ranks among the most prestigious in this sector. All the products are made in the USA, at Cliffwood in New Jersey, and are marketed in 65 countries.
