Goldring's 1000 series has persistently been popular among music lovers and audiophiles for over 30 years. The 1012 is the second model in the range, however, this 1012 GX MM cartridge includes many technical innovations that have made the brand and range a success. The stylus is a Gyger II elliptical profile. The complex shape delivers very fine trebles with an amazing definition. Tracking is very precise with a very low surface noise and distortion. Goldring uses very powerful magnets that provide this 1012 GX with a high sensitivity and output level, over 6 mV!
The sound quality is open and punchy, quite spectacular actually! With Blues and Rock music this cartridge is impressively punchy and consistent. The bass is punchy and extremely clean. The sound stage is wide and very precise and is perfectly stretched in depth, which works well with orchestras.
If your system is a bit dull and your LP collection essentially includes Led Zep, The Doors and Jimi Hendrix, then this is the cartridge you need! Don't get us wrong, it is also great with Malher's 5th symphony! Highly recommended... Franck
