The Charisma V2 is Clearaudio’s reference in MM cartridges. It is supplied in a beautiful box made of natural wood. As soon as we open the box, we are surprised by its “round” look.

It is nice to look at, even before using it!

CLEARAUDIO CHARISMA V2: BODY AND CANTILEVER

Its body is built from a beautiful piece of ebony wood. It is ornate with a precious metal (silver) inlay.

The manufacturer opted for the same boron cartridge covered with diamond as on the very high-level Goldfinger Statement MC cartridge. This one is equipped with a double polished “Gyger S” profile stylus. It is mounted on the cantilever with the highest precision possible. In this way, it ensures an excellent frequency response as well as an excellent channel separation. Indeed, the > 30 dB channel separation is outstanding.

The magnets have been selected in order to offer the best dynamics possible and an output level high enough to be associated to most of the phono stages.

Its compliance of 17 will be perfect for mid and low effective mass tonearms.

CLEARAUDIO CHARISMA V2: REVIEW AND LISTENING

Since the very first notes, we are surprised by the quality and fullness of the auditory scene. It is spread both in width and depth, while localizing the musicians.

The restitution is very lively, dynamic and significantly fluent. The timbres are nice, correct and surprising for a moving magnets cartridge. The mid-range is precise and very detailed, with a lot of softness and nuances.

The listening is much more emotional and realistic than on the old phono cartridges of the manufacturer. The research and development really paid off.

The Clearaudio Charisma V2 MM cartridge is certainly the best or one of the best MM cartridges currently available on the market. We completely forget technology to fully focus on music... And it is the essential!
