The motor is made up of dual magnets using "VM" technology. Instead of using a single large magnet, the two magnets are arranged in a "V" shape.

PCUHD (High Purity Oxygen-Free Copper) is now used for the voice coil conductors of all models. The number of winding turns has also been reduced, resulting in a more responsive, lighter sound quality and more nuanced musical expression. The entire AT-VMx series features a large central shielding plate between the left and right channels of the voice coil. This eliminates electrical crosstalk between the two generators and maintains high separation, improving stereo.

The VM510's structure is designed to minimize vibrations in the cartridge body for the most accurate and clear playback possible. Additionally, the body now features threaded inserts, making it easier to attach to the headshell. A V-shaped cutout has been added to the guard as a guide for the diamond position, improving visibility of the stylus tip when placing the needle on the record.
