The Kanto Obi3 Gen 2 is a very affordable turntable that nonetheless meets high-quality expectations on a budget where it is hard to offer everything it provides.

Build quality is well above the norm in this price range. The plinth is made of painted MDF rather than plastic, as is fairly common in this segment. A translucent dust cover is also supplied as standard, along with the cables and a 45 rpm adapter.

It features a tonearm offering all the adjustments needed for a future cartridge change. The headshell is standardised and can therefore accept modern cartridges. Both tracking force and anti-skating are adjustable.

As standard, the Kanto Obi3 Gen 2 comes with an Audio-Technica AT3600L cartridge, a very sound choice for a product priced under 200 euros!

Speed is controlled by a sensor that keeps it accurate and stable. The platter is made of weighted aluminium, which provides excellent inertia and therefore convincing dynamics that PVC platters cannot match.

Do I need a phono preamplifier with this turntable?

Can I listen to my records wirelessly?

Yes, the Obi3 Gen 2 has a built-in Bluetooth® 5.3 transmitter that streams music to any device fitted with a Bluetooth receiver, such as a wireless speaker.

Can the original cartridge be replaced?
