Description

The Rotel A11 MKII integrated amplifier is based on the renowned A11 Tribute, which was designed and optimized by Ken Ishiwata (former Marantz engineer and brand ambassador) in 2019.

It indeed retains most of the specifications and technical data.

ROTEL A11 MKII: FRONT PANEL

Externally, the Rotel A11 MKII is very similar to the A10 MKII integrated amplifier.

In the middle of the black or natural aluminum front panel, there is a large volume knob. To its right, there are 7 buttons corresponding to the selection of analog and digital inputs. To the left, 3 knobs allow for adjusting bass, treble, and balance.

The A11 MKII integrated amplifier also features a 3.5mm stereo jack headphone output on the front panel.

ROTEL A11 MKII: REAR PANEL

On the back of this integrated amplifier, there are 3 RCA analog inputs and a phono MM input.

These are complemented by a Bluetooth dongle that supports aptX HD and AAC for CD-quality wireless audio streaming. Additionally, there is an optical and a coaxial digital input.

Unlike the manufacturer's previous amplifiers, the A11 MKII offers only one pair of speaker outputs. These are gold-plated and, of course, accept banana plugs or spades.

ROTEL A11 MKII: CIRCUITRY

The stated power output of 50 Watts is provided by Rotel's classic Class AB amplification, delivering 50 Watts per channel into 8 Ohms. It is complemented by an oversized toroidal transformer custom-designed by Rotel. This linear power supply, combined with a 100% analog Class AB power stage (push/pull transistor), ensures excellent speaker control and dynamic performance, even with challenging loads.

ROTEL A11 MKII: TEST AND LISTENING

In listening tests, the qualities of the Rotel A11 Tribute's reproduction and musicality are evident.

This amplifier demonstrates excellent transparency and appreciable neutrality. It retains the dynamic range and tonal quality that have established the brand's reputation for over half a century.

The bass remains dynamic and offers excellent control. The transparency and nuance are also impressive, which is surprising for an amplifier in this price range.

All these qualities allow the Rotel A11 MKII integrated amplifier to be paired with excellent Hi-Fi speakers, creating high-performing and coherent systems within affordable budgets. Pairing it with the Rotel CD11 MKII CD player from the same manufacturer is, for example, recommended.
