After the success of theOctavio Stream, the young French company is entering the world of theamplification. The goal of theOctavio AMP is to offer a compact amplifier, powerful and offering a maximum of connections and possibilities of streaming, at a reasonable price, while maintaining the made in France!

OCTAVIO AMP: Housing

L’Octavio AMP It comes in the form of an elegant textured satin black metal case. It is very compact with dimensions of 20 cm by 20 cm and a thickness of only 4 cm.

On the front panel, there is a large rotary volume knob made of aluminum. To its left, two aluminum buttons dedicated to powering on the device and selecting the sources. A light indicator in the center shows the selected audio source or the configuration status.

OCTAVIO AMP: Connections

On the back of the device, there are two digital inputs: one opticalToslink and one in USB. Added to this are two analog inputs inRCA and an output Subwoofer also in CAR. A socket Ethernet The RJ45 allows it to connect to the wired network, and a mini antenna to the network. WI-FI. A DC socket allows connection of the external power supply.

The connection to speakers is done on a large terminal block accepting banana plugs.

OCTAVIO AMP: Technology

L’Octavio AMP uses a digital amplification technology. The supplied power supply voltage determines the power. Here we have a 32 V power supply, which offers a power of 2 x 100 W at 4 Ω and 2 x 60 W at 8 Ω.

L’amplifier has an efficiency of 92% (compared to about 30% for amplifiers class A). Thus, 92% of the power of theOctavio AMP is effective for driving the speakers. 

Moreover, the electronic system of theOctavio AMP is equipped with technology Sound Filter. This one analyzes the broadcast signal in Octavio AMP, and compares it to the output signal before it is sent to your speakers to subtract any potential noise or interference, ensuring clear and precise sound.

L’Octavio AMP is equipped with an excellent DAC N/A (Texas Instrument) offering a resolution of 24 bits / 192 KHz.

The amplifier is fully connected via the application Octavio Virtuose. This allows for high-fidelity music streaming. The application is compatible with the main online music services: Qobuz, Deezer, Spotify, Tidal, Amazon Music …

L’Octavio AMP amplifier is also compatible with AirPlay 2 and allows via UPnP to stream music stored on a network server or your computer directly from the Octavio Virtuose Smartphone app, or from the BubbleUPnP app on Android or the MConnect app on iOS.

In mode multiroom it is possible to associate a device Octavio or Octavio AMP on each of the speakersPresent in your home, to play your music on multiple speakers at the same time, in a completely synchronized way.

The minimum required configuration for the mobile application is: iOS >= 10.0 and Android >= 4.3.3.

OCTAVIO AMP: Test and Listening 

Thanks to this friendly company, we had the chance and privilege a few months ago to have the "prototype" of theOctavio AMP, which allowed us to conduct very thorough tests, while knowing that the production version would be even more efficient.

From the very first minutes, we are surprised by the dynamics and swing demonstrated by this amplifier. It is capable of driving speakers even very difficult ones. The restitution is very neutral and particularly transparent. It is also noticeable that the soundstage is precise and very stable.

Les voix are perfectly centered and remarkably realistic. You hear a lot of details, without it being too analytical. The timbres are rather soft and smooth, but without falling into the dark side like some amplifiers who artificially try to be soft or "warm"!

This 32 V version allows taking advantage ofspeakers much more difficult, and to explore the extreme bass of certain high-end models!

We therefore greatly appreciated L’Octavio AMP which offers musicality far superior to its competitors (Sonos, Bluesound...) and especially at a very realistic price.

And we particularly appreciate the «made in France", even the packaging!"
