The Musical Fidelity M6 Si integrated amplifier marks a turning point in the manufacturer’s lineup. It slots in between the M5 Si and the beefier Musical Fidelity M6-500. It incorporates some of the latter’s technology, but in a fairly standard chassis that’s easier to fit into a space.
Its advertised performance makes it a highly versatile integrated amplifier, capable of handling even challenging Hi-Fi speakers.
MUSICAL FIDELITY M6 SI: FRONT PANEL
The front panel of the M6 Si is, like all Musical Fidelity units, very understated. It is machined from thick, solid aluminum and available in two finishes: black or natural. Its understated design doesn’t prevent it from offering all the essentials.
In the center sits a large rotary volume knob, flanked on either side by small push buttons for selecting among the 7 sources.
The only other feature is the classic on/off switch at the far left.
MUSICAL FIDELITY M6 SI: REAR PANEL
On the rear panel, there are 4 high-level inputs, a pre-out (for a power amplifier), and a line out (for a recorder or headphone amplifier).
In addition, there is an excellent phono input paired with a switch that allows you to select between MM and MC. This makes it compatible with moving-magnet cartridges and high-level or low-level moving-coil cartridges.
There is also a USB-B audio input paired with an asynchronous D/A converter compatible with digital signals up to 24-bit/96 kHz.
At each end of the chassis, the two speaker outputs feature high-quality WBT terminal blocks that accept banana plugs and spade connectors.
It should be noted that the “AUX1” input can be bypassed using a small switch.
The power cord connects via the standard IEC connector, which allows for the use of a higher-quality power cord at a later date.
MUSICAL FIDELITY M6 SI: SPECIFICATIONS
Musical Fidelity states that the technology used is the same as that developed for the manufacturer’s famous high-end Titan amplifier.
The M6 Si delivers 220 watts per channel into 8 ohms and can deliver over 350 watts into 4 ohms. To achieve this, each channel is equipped with a dual push-pull circuit using Sanken Darlington transistors.
At the center of the chassis sits a large dual-winding toroidal transformer. Each winding powers a separate channel. This power reserve and its stability allow it to drive a wide range of Hi-Fi speakers, even those considered difficult to drive.
The preamplifier section operates entirely in Class A. This design ensures excellent transparency and delivers superb dynamics.
MUSICAL FIDELITY M6 SI: REVIEW AND LISTENING IMPRESSIONS
This Musical Fidelity M6 Si amplifier is surprising for its sound quality, which is on par with equipment from a much higher price range. Its current reserve and power handling capacity allow it to be paired with a very good pair of speakers, even ones that are difficult to drive.
The sound is very precise and detailed, while still offering enough body to make timbres rich and instruments sound realistic.
The Musical Fidelity M6 Si masks absolutely nothing and does not emphasize any part of the spectrum. Transparency is perfectly balanced across the entire audio spectrum. The high end is smooth and crystal-clear, complemented by superb, punchy, and dynamic midrange.
Thrill-seekers will be delighted by the deep, dynamic, articulate bass with remarkable clarity. The soundstage and stereo image are impressive, while remaining precise and highly realistic. Even the most demanding Hi-Fi speakers exhibit an unusual sense of life and swing.
What’s more, connecting a MacBook via USB and using the Qobuz app in HD produced surprising results! The phono input is of excellent quality and can even be paired with a high-quality MC cartridge. We tested it with an Ortofon Quintet Black S cartridge.
The M6 Si integrated amplifier truly delivers high-end sound quality at a price that’s still “affordable.”
This Musical Fidelity M6 Si amplifier is surprising for its sound reproduction, which evokes a... The Musical Fidelity M6 Si integrated amplifier is certainly one of the best Hi-Fi amplifiers in this price range! It’s very versatile, musical, and works with almost anything. It embodies what an integrated amplifier should be!

FAQ: Everything you need to know before buying the Musical Fidelity M6 Si
Can I connect a turntable to the M6 Si?
Yes. It has a fine phono input with a switch to choose between MM and MC. It is therefore compatible with both moving magnet and moving coil cartridges, high- and low-output alike. This input is excellent and can even be paired with a fine MC cartridge.
How much power does it deliver, and for which speakers?
The M6 Si delivers 220 W per channel into 8 ohms and over 350 W into 4 ohms, thanks to a dual push-pull of Sanken Darlington transistors per channel and a large dual-winding toroidal transformer. This reserve lets it drive a wide range of speakers, even those considered difficult. It feels at ease in large rooms, around 30 to 40 m²; an even bigger room would remain within reach given this power.
Can a digital source be connected via USB?
Yes. It has a USB-B audio input paired with an asynchronous DAC compatible with digital signals up to 24-bit/96 kHz. The preamplifier also runs fully in class A, which ensures excellent transparency and fine dynamics across all sources.
What other connections does it offer?
The rear panel gathers four high-level inputs, a pre-out for a power amplifier and a Line Out for a recorder or headphone amp. The AUX1 input is switchable to By-Pass. The speaker outputs use excellent WBT terminals accepting banana plugs and spades, and the mains cable connects to an IEC socket that can be upgraded later.

dynamique !
