Cyrus 8.2 DAC integrated amplifier

The Cyrus 8.2 DAC integrated amplifier is the most performing amp ever designed by Cyrus, the British manufacturer.

CYRUS 8.2 DAC: INPUTS

This integrated amp is equipped with digital and analogue inputs that allow it to be associated with most of analogue or digital source. Just a phono input is missing, but a quality phono preamplifier can be easily associated with this 8.2 DAC.

It offers 6 analogue inputs (RCA), 2 Toslink SPDIF optical inputs, 2 SPDIF coaxial inputs and an USB input. The resolution of the optical and coaxial inputs is 24 bits/192 kHz and from 16 to 48 bits over 192 kHz in USB.

The USB input does not require driver, it is fully “plug and play” with a PC, MC or laptop.

The Cyrus 8.2 DAC integrates a high-performance 24/192 DAC. The DAC uses the 32 bits oversampling of the Cyrus DAC XP Signature.

CYRUS 8.2 DAC: OUTPUTS AND POWER SUPPLY

To these inputs are added 2 “Pre-Out” outputs, a “Zone 2” output and “Bus” input/output for control.

A PSX-R2 port is also provided on the 8.2 DAC to allow connection of the Cyrus PSX-R2 external power supply and significantly increase the performance of the Cyrus 8.2 DAC.

The speaker outputs are in BFA format, so important for the manufacturer. They are lined, for bi wiring lovers. The power of 70 W in 8 ohms is convenient and allows a combination with other bookshelf or tower speakers having efficiency superior or equal to 88 dB.

To ensure the best possible level of audio quality, Cyrus featured the DAC with a strong power supply. The chassis contains two transformers to fully separate the digital control stages from audio and power signals. This configuration is usually reserved for preamplifier/power amplifier combinations.

The restitution of this Cyrus 8.2 DAC is defined, clear and precise all over the audio spectrum, even on complex works. We enjoyed the articulation and nuance similar to high-end electronics.

Its dynamic is remarkable. The feel of speakers control is surprising.

The different instruments are separated and identified with ease. They take place pleasantly in an open and spacious sound stage.
