Focal Vestia N°4 tower speakers

This new Vestia line follows the Focal Chora speaker line.

The distinguishing feature of the Vestia series is its new speaker and a new slate-colored membrane, named "Slatefiber" by the manufacturer.

The Vestia series includes 4 Hi-Fi speaker models: three floor-standing speakers and one bookshelf speaker. They offer a contemporary design that is quite different from the previous range. The Focal Vestia N°4 is the most ambitious model in the range.

FOCAL VESTIA N°4: SLATEFIBER TECHNOLOGY

The Focal Vestia N°4 is a 3-way bass-reflex speaker. The midrange and woofer drivers are equipped with the new Slatefiber membrane.

The Slatefiber technology, exclusive to the Focal brand, uses non-woven recycled carbon fibers, sandwiched between two layers of thermoplastic polymer. These fibers are oriented in the same direction to achieve greater rigidity and better damping. Manufactured in France using highly sophisticated industrial tools, this very lightweight membrane with a "slate" effect provides better damping and rigidity than a cellulose membrane.

FOCAL VESTIA N°4: DRIVERS

The 16.5 cm midrange driver is housed in a closed baffle. The two 21 cm woofers operate in a bass-reflex configuration, with a port opening on the front and another on the back of the Focal Vestia N°4 speaker. All these drivers are equipped with a Slatefiber membrane made of recycled carbon fibers.

The high frequencies are handled by a new 25 mm TAM tweeter. This tweeter features an aluminum/magnesium (Al/Mg) alloy M-profile membrane. This Focal exclusive offers less directional sound, while remaining smooth and precise, with an impressive high-frequency range up to 30 kHz. A Poron suspension connects the dome to its support. This memory foam suspension is directly derived from the famous Utopia Beryllium tweeter. It reduces distortion by a factor of three in the critical range between 2000 Hz and 3000 Hz. The inverted dome also helps limit directivity and increases spatialization.

FOCAL VESTIA N°4: CABINET

Like the entire Vestia range, the Focal Vestia N°4 floor-standing speakers have been completely aesthetically redesigned. The cabinet is made of medium-density fiberboard (MDF). It is covered with a leather-like material on the front, top, and back of the speaker. The sides are covered with a wood grain veneer that varies according to the finish.

The drivers are hidden behind a fabric grille with magnetic attachment.

This Hi-Fi speaker is relatively large, standing over 1.1 meters tall, with a depth of 43 cm and a weight of over 31 kg. Its base tilts it slightly backward to optimize the phase alignment of the drivers (Time Alignment).

FOCAL VESTIA N°4: INSTALLATION

This floor-standing speaker should be considered for spaces larger than 35 square meters to fully express itself. Even though the port is on the front of the speaker, there should be at least 45 cm between the wall and the speaker.

Connection to the amplifier is made through a high-quality single terminal that accepts bare wire, banana plugs, or spades.

FOCAL VESTIA N°4: TEST AND LISTENING

The sound quality of this pair of Focal Vestia N°4 floor-standing speakers is very balanced and remains true to Focal's DNA. It retains the neutrality and transparency of the Vestia N°3 floor-standing speaker and models that have built the French manufacturer's reputation. The tones are relatively smooth and provide excellent texture to the instruments. The bass is very impressive in its depth, breadth, and physicality! The two 21 cm woofers give this speaker remarkable impact in the lower spectrum. This makes the sound reproduction very demonstrative and realistic on drums, percussion, or double bass.

The midrange offers great transparency and surprising neutrality. Vocals are very present and realistic. The treble is precise and subtle. It is perfectly integrated with the midrange, offering surprising clarity and transparency. This range seems smoother and less harsh than the previous Chora models.

The Focal Vestia N°4 floor-standing speakers have a "big" sound! Both in terms of impact, dynamics, and soundstage. The Vestia N°4 perfectly reproduces even complex works, with excellent precision, dynamics, and surprising breadth.

The pair of Focal Vestia N°4 floor-standing speakers is a great success for the French manufacturer. They offer superb musicality and rigorous sound reproduction while effortlessly filling the room with music when paired with a suitable amplifier.
