Though the Parasound preamplifier is the manufacturer's entry-level range, it nevertheless aims far higher than its actual price. A selector at the back of the device is used for selecting the cartridge type: Moving Coil (MC/100 ohms) or Moving Magnet (MM/47 Kohms).

The build quality is great, it only uses discrete components (transistors), capacitors and resistors, no integrated circuit! Another noteworthy feature is the power supply, particularly well built and built into the device, no small outboard power supply unit as is often the case in this price range! Highly appreciated!

The sound is very punchy and vibrant with great presence. The transparency is amazing for a product in this range. The instruments stand out perfectly from one another with more openness than many other competitor products. It is sufficiently neutral to equally please rock, jazz and classical music fans. We recommend that you leave it switched on, because it seems to have a significantly more subtle sound quality after a one-hour warm up period. The overall sonic performance is very balanced and authentic. This 'plug & play' preamplifier is specifically designed for music lovers with exacting standards who do not want to spend all their savings in a phono preamplifier.
