FOCAL ALPHA 80: CHARACTERISTICS

This active speaker is equipped with a bass/midrange speaker of 21 cm with Polyglass membrane. This one is load with a large section dual laminar port.

The high frequencies are entrusted to an inverted dome 25 mm (1’’) tweeter made of aluminium.

Each register is "driven" by its own amplifier: a 40 W class AB module for the tweeter, and a 100 W module for the woofer.

The Alpha 80 is already a nearfield speaker of a serious size. The frequency response from 40 Hz to 22 kHz (+/- 3 dB) demonstrates all its possibilities.

FOCAL ALPHA 80: BACK

At the back of this Focal Alpha 80, we find a XLR symmetrical input and a RCA asymmetrical input. The sensitivity is adjustable by 0 and + 6 dB.

Two potentiometers allow you to adjust the bass and high notes level following the room and the position of the speaker, to have the most neutral and accurate response as possible.

FOCAL ALPHA 80: TEST AND LISTENING

Since the very first notes, we recognize the Focal Alpha speakers.

The restitution is very similar to the Alpha 65 active speaker. We find again the dynamics, fullness and articulation of them. The definition and transparency are also very close to the Alpha 65.

However, this Focal Alpha 80 speaker offers an even more deep and impactful bass!

The overall restitution is impressive by its opening and accuracy.

The low directivity and the fullness have to be named as example, even on nearfield listening.
