Ortofon MC A95 cartridge

To celebrate its 90th anniversary, Ortofon had developed a high-end MC cartridge, the A90! The Danish manufacturer is back with yet another product this year in celebration of their 95 years of existence! 

Ortofon's A95 cartridge is an upgrade to the 'late' A90, building on its technology. The aim is to rival with the Anna MC at a more competitive price.

Ortofon's studies in the fields of mechanics, magnetism and new technology have been put to good use to optimise this cartridge. The key challenge was minimising vibration and resonance in the cartridge in order to increase its dynamic capabilities and transparency.

The generator uses very powerful neodymium magnets, making it possible to associate with small coils (gold-plated copper Aucurum 6NX conductor). The system is both more compact and lighter than usual. It is also extraordinarily small. A boron cantilever sets all these parts in motion. It features definitely one of the most beautiful and efficient diamonds available to date: the Replicant 100. It is as close to the original ellipsis of the groove as you can get. Thanks to its thin and light profile, combined with its amazing contact surface, it is the best tracker on the market! It is used and was used on the famous MC Anna, Windfield, Xpression and A90… With fully optimised weight and compliance, Ortofon's MC A95 cartridge is compatible with most modern tonearms and most good quality turntables. Also, the low internal impedance makes it less sensitive to charge by an MC preamp or transformer. In fact, the manufacturer recommends combining it with Ortofon's ST-80 SE transformer. 

The sound quality of this Ortofon MC A95 cartridge is simply miraculous! We are clearly in the presence of one of the top products in terms of transparency, clarity and vibrancy! The soundstage is open and very precise. The instrument positioning is fully complied with and perfectly credible. The authenticity is mind-blowing and for this criterion, the A95 is similar to Ortofon's MC Anna cartridge. The level of detail and very low surface noise are also quite amazing.

This Ortofon MC A95 was only released to 500 numbered units! Like the A90, there won't be enough for everybody! Just can't recommend it enough!
