Audio Technica AT-LP5X turntable

This new version of the Audio-Technica AT-LP5X vinyl turntable takes several elements of the previous model, with some changes in order to improve its excellent performance.

The AT-LPX5 is built with different mechanical and electronic elements from the Japanese manufacturer's professional and DJ productions, but the whole has been adapted and optimized so that this turntable offers performance worthy of a home turntable.

AUDIO TECHNICA AT-LP5X: DESIGN

Its look is very pleasant. It combines the solid aspect of some famous turntables such as the Technics SL1200 (to name but a few!) with the elegance of European living room models.

Its mat black finish also contributes to its very modern design and can be integrated to the lines of the AT-LP5X tonearm.

The entire chassis of the Audio Technica AT-LP5X turntable is very solid. It rests on four large damping stands that limit the effects of resonance and hooking in the bass.

AUDIO TECHNICA AT-LP5X: PLATTER AND DRIVE

The drive is inspired by pro turntables.

The non-magnetic die-cast aluminum platter is damped with a thick rubber mat of excellent manufacture. It is driven by a direct coupled AC motor, so there is no belt. It allows you to play 33, 45 and 78 rpm records.

AUDIO TECHNICA AT-LP5X: TONEARM AND CARTRIDGE

The “S” tonearm of this AT-LP5X turntable has been designed to minimize tracking error. It is inspired from Audio Technica’s products from the 60’s and 70’s.

The arm is originally equipped with an AT-HS6 headshell mounted with an Audio Technica AT-VM95E cartridge.

AUDIO TECHNICA AT-LP5X: INTEGRATED PHONO PREAMPLIFIER

The Audio Technica AT-LP5X integrates a new RIAA phono preamplifier compatible with the MM cartridges and MC cartridges. However, its gain of 56 dB in MC remains modest. It can be associated to MC cartridge only, having an output level higher than 0.6 mV.

There is also an USB output offering the possibility to digitalize your vinyl records on your computer. An Audacity® software installation CD is included with the turntable.

It is possible to disconnect with a switch of this preamplifier part and use the AT-LP5X on an original phono input.

If you are a lover of jazz and classical music, this Audio Technica AT-LP5X turntable may not meet your expectations in terms of finesse and nuance. However, by replacing the cartridge with a more high-end one, we have achieved amazing results!

Note that the phono cable can also be changed if you do not use the internal preamplifier of the vinyl record player.
