This Atoll CD player is the latest release in the "Mini" range from the Normandy manufacturer. It incorporates the functions and some of the qualities of the Evo range but in a more compact format.
Atoll MD 100 Evolution CD Player: Case
This CD player is very compact, and therefore takes up little space (320×210×83 mm). It has the traditional 4 mm brushed aluminum front, in black or natural.
In the middle is the loading drawer and just below the 7-segment LED display. To the right of the display, the M100 offers 6 direct access keys to the player's functions. These are clearly reproduced on the remote control supplied with the device.
On the back of the device there is the analog output in RCA and two digital outputs, one coaxial Spdif in RCA and one optical Toslink, if you want to use the MD100 as a drive. The power supply is on a standard IEC socket, which allows you to put the power cable of your choice.

Atoll has chosen an excellent central Teac CD mechanic (latest generation), compatible with CDs, CD-Rs and CD-RWs as well as MP3 files.
The digital to digital conversion part is entrusted to a BURR BROWN PCM5122 DAC. This offers a maximum resolution of 24 bits/192 kHz, a dynamic range of 112 dB with a Signal/Noise ratio of 112 dB.
The Atoll MD 100 CD player is equipped with a low-power, low-noise 10 VA transformer. It has separate secondaries for digital and analog, with a total decoupling of approximately 10,500 µF.
Atoll MD 100 Evolution CD Player: Test and Listen
This little CD player is a real surprise from the very first minute.
The timbres are transmitted with little audible coloration. They are also accompanied by a certain density, bringing realism and naturalness to the music.
The Atoll MD100 offers a very open and non-aggressive midrange with a very fine and defined treble.
All this is combined with a deep and very ample bass for a device in this range.
The dynamics are excellent and allow for real spontaneity in the reproduction of works. The focus and placement of the sources are excellent, giving a broad and deep soundstage.
This little player is extremely well-built and offers remarkable musicality that is totally at odds with its price.
