Description

The Marantz CD6007 CD player represents the entry-level model in the Japanese manufacturer's audiophile series. Despite its position, it offers simple yet comprehensive functions, prioritizing musicality.

MARANTZ CD6007: FRONT PANEL

The dimensions are quite typical for a Marantz device, though the CD6007 appears slightly more substantial than its competitors, conveying a sense of quality and solidity. The familiar Marantz design features the disc mechanism at the center and below it, the display, flanked on either side by three buttons for primary functions. These functions and more are also accessible via the included remote control.

Additionally, there's a USB-A input and a headphone output with adjustable volume.

MARANTZ CD6007: REAR PANEL

The rear panel provides straightforward yet effective connectivity options: analog output via two gold-plated RCA connectors and two digital outputs—optical Toslink and coaxial SPDIF.

MARANTZ CD6007: FEATURES

A significant upgrade in this model is the replacement of the Cirrus CS4398 DAC (used in the CD6006) with an AKM 4490 DAC, capable of handling high-resolution files. While CDs are supported conventionally, high-resolution PCM files up to 24-bit/192 kHz and DSD128 can be played via the front USB-A port.

The power supply has been revised for quieter operation, and the HDAM amplification modules have been enhanced, along with higher-quality components throughout.

The headphone amplifier automatically goes into "Mute" when not in use to conserve energy.

The Marantz CD6007 offers a choice of two digital filter options. Filter 1 features a slow roll-off, purportedly providing a wider stereo image. In contrast, Filter 2 has a sharper roll-off, aimed at delivering a more direct and brighter sound.

MARANTZ CD6007: REVIEW AND LISTENING

User experience is straightforward, requiring minimal setup—simply plug in and insert a CD.

From the outset, the CD6007 impresses with its dynamic range and expansive soundstage. Instrument placement is precise, and stereo effects are remarkable.

Similar qualities are observed with the USB input, where high-definition files exhibit enhanced transparency and spatial separation between instruments.

Marantz has taken an already excellent CD player in the CD6007 and further refined it, pushing boundaries especially at its price point. Highly recommended.
