Pro-Ject CD Box S2 CD player

This brand new Pro-Ject CD Box S2 CD player replaces the well-known Box DC from Pro-Ject. It has the very small dimensions that still make it the smallest audiophile CD player on the market today.

PRO-JECT CD BOX S2: FRONT PANEL

The antiresonance housing made of aluminium has a very flat front panel, in black or natural aluminium, of less than 4 cm!

In the middle, there is a slot showing the opening of the "Slot In" mechanism. This means that there is no tray. You simply insert the CD and the player swallows it. This could seem pretty simple, but it allows limiting the number of moving mechanic parts and a tray.

Just below the opening, there are 4 push buttons that give access to the basic functions (play, stop, previous, next). The other functions are available via the provided infrared remote control.

The track and time information is available on a small LCD screen, on the right of the front panel.

PRO-JECT CD BOX S2: BACK PANEL

The back of this CD player offers very simple connections but sufficient: one RCA analogical output and two Toslink optical digital outputs.

The Pro-Ject CD Box S2 is powered by an external box of 9 V DC / 200 mA.

PRO-JECT CD BOX S2: MECHANICS

The Pro-Ject CD Box S2 player is equipped with a PCM5102A digital-to-analogue converter from Texas Instruments.

This DAC works on 32 bits at 384 kHz, ensuring a performing and precise conversion. It allows the Pro-Ject CD Box S2 player to switch between IIR and FIR digital filters. These use a linear digital signal processing system in order to improve restitution.

The mechanics accepts CDs, CD-Rs, CD-RWs and Hybrid SACDs (CD layer only).

The Pro-Ject CD Box S2 CD player is an excellent CD player that meets the audiophile standard and allows a very easy housing. It perfectly completes integrated amplifiers from Pro-Ject, such as the Pro-Ject Maia.
