Description

The Grado GS 1000x is the evolution of the famous representative of the "Statement" series. It builds on all the elements that have made this range and the New York-based brand so popular.

Grado GS 1000x: design

A vintage headband gives it a quirky look.

The speaker chambers are cut, for the first time, in beautiful wooden pieces made of a sandwich of Mahogany and Ipe. This results in a remarkable rigidity and generates no parasitic vibration and therefore no mechanical distortion.

For those who were put off by the comfort of the old Grado, it should be noted that this GS 1000x is considered one of the most comfortable headphones on the market!

Its new earpads have been modelled to recreate the concert hall around your ears!

The build quality is superb, with a particularly artisanal care. Assembly is done entirely by hand in the historic Brooklyn production unit.

Grado GS 1000x: features

The beautiful, completely new 50 mm transducers deliver astonishing performance in terms of frequency response, 8 Hz/35 kHz! They undergo a stringent selection and pairing process (0.05 dB!).

The transducer coil wiring uses HPLC conductors, as does the connecting cable, which uses 12 of them.

Grado GS 1000x: test and listening

It should be pointed out that, like most dynamic headphones, this GS 1000x needs a good fifty hours of running-in for the reproduction to be perfectly even.

It is necessary to pair it with a proper amplifier to fully enjoy its potential. We tested it with the Lehmann Linear II.

The old version of these Grado headphones is now an undisputed reference, and all the world press has raved about it, so everything has already been said! But this new version seems even more neutral and musical.

It is a benchmark in terms of detail, frequency response, neutrality, dynamics…

The soundstage is drawn perfectly before your eyes with the accuracy of the best monitoring speakers on the market.

The bass is remarkable and the treble runs with incredible accuracy without any aggressiveness. The timbres are full and subtle, giving voices a sumptuous reproduction.

The Grado GS 1000x Hi-Fi headphones are among the most musical dynamic headphones available to date. A reference!

FAQ: Everything you need to know before buying the Grado GS 1000x headphones

What design innovations set the Grado GS 1000x apart?

The GS 1000x is the evolution of the famous member of Grado's "Statement" series and carries over all the elements that made this range a success. The driver chambers are cut, for the first time, from magnificent wooden pieces made of a Mahogany and Ipê sandwich, which ensures remarkable rigidity without generating parasitic vibration or mechanical distortion. Brand-new 50 mm transducers show an impressive bandwidth of 8 Hz to 35 kHz, and undergo drastic sorting and matching to 0.05 dB. The coil wiring uses HPLC conductors, as does the connecting cable, which uses no fewer than twelve. Assembly is entirely by hand in Grado's historic production facility in Brooklyn.

Do I need a headphone amplifier to enjoy them?

Yes. Like most high-end dynamic headphones, the GS 1000x requires a proper headphone amplifier to express its full potential. We tested it with the Lehmann Linear II.

How long a break-in period should I expect?

Allow a good fifty hours of running in for the reproduction to become perfectly consistent, as with most dynamic headphones. This break-in happens naturally over hours of listening.

Has comfort improved, and what are the housings made of?

For those who were put off by the comfort of older Grado models, the GS 1000x is considered one of the most comfortable headphones on the market, its new earpads shaped to recreate the concert hall around your ears. The driver housings are carved from a Mahogany and Ipê wood sandwich, ensuring rigidity and freedom from unwanted vibration. Assembly is done entirely by hand at the historic Brooklyn production facility.
