AudioQuest Jaws C19: key features

This new power cable uses Perfect-Surface Copper+ (PSC+) conductors exclusively. The Solid Core live and neutral conductors have a cross-section of 2 x 3.31 mm², and the earth conductor 1 x 2.08 mm². It is fitted with an IEC C19 connector, making it compatible with equipment using that format and with currents of 20 A at 230 V.

While many power cables offer low resistance in order to meet high current demand, a cable's characteristic impedance is just as crucial to optimum performance.

Unlike most cables, which shrink or compress a transient, AudioQuest mains cables combine low DC resistance with ZERO characteristic impedance. High-current transients are therefore delivered without compression.

The Jaws is fitted with 4-layer shielding, one layer of which is graphene. Graphene is a conductor that remains effective across a very wide frequency range, which improves shielding at very high frequencies, exactly where conventional shielding starts to lose its effectiveness.

Which equipment is the IEC C19 connector intended for?

The IEC C19 connector is fitted to equipment designed for high current demand, and the Jaws C19 accepts currents of 20 A at 230 V. It is typically found on certain power amplifiers and high-output units. Simply check the shape of your unit's mains inlet before ordering: a device fitted with an IEC C13 inlet cannot accept this cable.

Which lengths are available?

The Jaws C19 comes in 1 m, 2 m and 3 m. Choose according to the actual distance between the unit and the wall socket or mains filter: a length that is just sufficient is preferable to a cable coiled up behind the rack.
