The Dual CS 460 vinyl turntable is a high-end automatic vinyl turntable that couldn't be more simple or efficient to set up and use.
It is fitted with an aluminium tonearm and carbon fibre headshell, which itself is fitted with an Ortofon OM 10 cartridge. This tonearm uses a gyroscopic gimbal, which reduces friction to a minimum. It also lets you adjust the tracking force as it has an extremely precise torsion spring in the vertical axis. The antiskating system is also adjustable using the dial on the tonearm base. This also gives you the option of upgrading the cartridge to a higher end model such as the Ortofon 2M Blue.
It has a solid wood plinth and a floating sub-platter, and the whole ensemble sits on damping feet. The platter has an aluminium sandwich construction with an antistatic felt platter mat to prevent resonance. It is driven by a DC motor and flat belt. The Dual CS 460 offers three rotation speeds: 33⅓, 45 and 78 rpm. We would recommend replacing the original stylus with an Ortofon OM78 stylus when you wish to listen at 78 rpm.
The sound quality is as good as we have come to expect from German manufacturer Dual, plunging you head first into the world of analogue sound. It has all the dynamic range, presence and openness of vinyl sound. The CS 460 feels more precise and open than the models in the range below it.
The Dual CS 460 vinyl turntable is everything a modern automatic vinyl turntable should be. It is the obvious choice for music lovers who have high standards but are tentative about using a fully manual record player. We like that it offers three rotation speeds, and both available finishes (lacquered and wood) are very striking.
We highly recommended it!
