Préamplificateur ATOLL PR200 Signature

The Atoll PR200 Signature preamplifier is designed to fit easily into any high-quality hi-fi system. While it retains the same design, it receives numerous modifications and improvements compared to the previous model.

It logically adopts the magnificent 4mm thick aluminum front of the Atoll IN200 integrated amplifier, as well as the 1.5mm thick metal chassis. The rigidity of the assembly limits all mechanical vibrations.

The top of the unit is perforated for better heat dissipation, although the PR200 Signature does not get as hot as an amplifier.

The controls on the front panel have been very streamlined and all functions are grouped on two "logical" selectors that allow you to choose the desired source. In the middle of the front panel sits the volume potentiometer. To the right of this, there are seven LEDs indicating the selected source.

All these functions are also accessible via the supplied Atoll remote control.

Still on the front panel, there is a 6.35 mm jack headphone output which cuts off the main preamp outputs.

The back of the unit offers 5 analog inputs, 1 Tape output and 1 Bypass input. In addition, there are 2 RCA pre-outs.

It is possible to add the digital card (DAC) as an option.DA Atoll 200as well as a phono cardAtoll P100.

The By-pass input will allow it to be connected to a processor or a Home Cinema amplifier? A 12v Trig output allows the Atoll amplifier associated with the PR200 Signature to be powered.

The Atoll PR200 Signature is equipped with an oversized power supply including a 340 VA toroidal transformer and capacitive filtering of over 31,000 µF!

The volume is controlled by a superb ALPS motorized potentiometer. The balanced audio stages are entirely designed with discrete components. All the coupling capacitors are MKP technology.

We find the dynamics and transparency dear to the French manufacturer. We also note that Atoll favors neutrality and definition over coloration or exuberance. The midrange is very realistic and precise without offering any harshness. The bass is very articulate and readable. Its restitution favors dynamics and cleanliness.

This Atoll PR200 Signature is an excellent preamplifier, simple and effective. It also allows the addition of an Atoll P100 phono card or the excellent Atoll DA 200 digital card, making it a scalable and complete device.

At the price offered, it has no competition, especially when offering a “real” made in France product!
