This cable uses Perfect-Surface Copper+ (PSC+) solid conductors, with a 6% silver-plated drain for improved conductivity and reduced distortion.

While many power cables focus only on low resistance to meet high current demands, characteristic impedance is equally important to achieve optimal performance.

Unlike most cables that compress transients, AudioQuest cables combine low DC resistance with near-zero characteristic impedance, allowing high-current transients to pass without compression.

The Tornado Source features high-end Storm series connectors, made of silver-plated copper over red copper and beryllium. These connectors minimize distortion and improve high-frequency noise dissipation.

The cable incorporates AudioQuest’s DBS (Dielectric-Bias System). An external module applies a constant 72V bias to the cable’s shielding. All shields feature a dielectric whose electrical properties directly affect signal integrity.

The DBS shielding (AudioQuest patented) generates a stable, powerful electrostatic field that polarizes the insulation, reducing noise and preventing RF interference from affecting the electronics.

DBS batteries have an estimated lifespan of 10 years, with a built-in test button for easy status verification.
