The Ortofon 2M Bonze cartridge is the third cartridge of this new and already famous 2M range of the Danish constructor.
This range was designed in partnership with the Moller Jensen Design agency, which has developed other high-end products such as the Ortofon Mc Jubilee and Kontrapunkt cartridges!
All the models in this series (4 in total) feature a magnetic system that comprises a divided magnet.
This is not really a new technology as Ortofon invented it and already proposed it on the 500 models, but here it has been specially improved and optimised, noticeably reducing the distortion and particularly improving the linearity and extent of the frequency response especially in the treble which is often the weakness of moving magnet cartridges.
The intention of the manufacturer was clearly to propose a moving magnet cartridge with performances close to the ones achieved by a moving coil.
The body of the 2M Bronze is made of a composite resin called 'Lexan DMX'. This groundbreaking material provides outstanding stiffness and wards off unwanted resonance.
The coils have silver-plated copper conductors.
Its extremely high quality stylus has a fairly complex profile called Nude Fine Line which is very close to the shape of the engraving 'chisel'.
The sound quality is particularly clear and transparent, with details bursting from the music.
The reverberations of the recording locations are long and full.
The sound stage is very authentic, placing every sound where it should be.
Note that is shows a fine balance. It successfully combines definition, precision and texture!
In many ways, you get the feeling of listening to a moving coil cartridge rather than a moving magnet cartridge!
The Ortofon 2M Bronze cartridge leans toward neutrality, transparency and timbre quality. An MM cartridge that overtakes its MC competitors on many counts!
An indisputable success!

Ortofon 2M Bronze
