Description

The Rega Replay turntable has been designed from the ground up to deliver optimum audio quality. Easy to use, it lets you rediscover your favourite albums just as the artist intended them.

REGA REPLAY: Plinth and platter

The Rega Replay is built around a minimalist "skeletal" plinth in lightweight yet highly rigid melamine. The core of the plinth is black MDF.

The platter is specific to this turntable. It is made from a 23 mm phenolic sheet, which is more massive and offers better inertia than PVC. It has been optimised for improved speed stability. The custom-made platter mat is white felt. Note that the mat has a different texture on one side for optimum grip on the platter.

The plinth sits on 3 newly designed feet. They improve stability and reduce vibrations in the plinth.

The Replay comes with a dust cover that sits on the platter.

REGA REPLAY: Tonearm and cartridge

The Replay is fitted with the latest-generation RB110 tonearm, featuring ultra-low-friction bearings (patented) custom-designed by Rega. The RB110 tonearm incorporates a non-adjustable bias setting, fixed at the factory, so no adjustment is required. The RB110 headshell has been ergonomically designed for improved handling and looks. A ready-to-use 111 g counterweight is included.

As standard, this tonearm comes fitted with a Rega Carbon cartridge. Each cartridge is meticulously fitted and precisely aligned to guarantee optimum performance from the very first play.

REGA REPLAY: Drive

The Replay uses Rega's quiet, low-vibration 24 V AC synchronous motor module. This module includes a new circuit board and a CNC-machined aluminium pulley. In addition to ventilation, the motor housing integrates the power switch, the input for the external 24 V power supply and the rear foot.

The drive bearing is made of brass. It is machined to a very precise, improved tolerance, reducing stress on the bearing while minimising potential energy transfer (Rega patent).

REGA REPLAY: Sound

The Rega Replay is today very probably the British manufacturer's most affordable model, and also the least expensive it has ever offered.

Yet from the very first notes, you will find all the ingredients that have built the brand's reputation for more than 50 years.

The sound is dynamic and lively, with that slightly flattering touch found in English hi-fi products of the 1980s.

This turntable was designed to make music and convey as much musicality as possible at minimum cost, which is no easy task. Yet the bet has clearly paid off, and even goes beyond our expectations.

Replacing the weaker elements (cartridge and platter) unlocks remarkable performance from the Rega Replay. We offer it in a "racing" version: Rega Replay Plus.

FAQ: Everything you need to know before buying the Rega Replay turntable

Do I need a phono preamplifier to use the Rega Replay?

The Rega Replay is fitted with a moving magnet (MM) cartridge, which must be connected to a phono input. If your amplifier has an MM phono input, like the Rega IO integrated amplifier, no additional preamplifier is needed. If not, a preamplifier such as the Rega Fono Mini A2D will link the turntable to your system. Our article on phono preamps explains their role in detail.

Is the Rega Replay ready to play straight out of the box?

Yes. Like all our turntables, the Rega Replay is assembled, aligned and tested in our workshop before shipping. The Rega Carbon cartridge comes fitted and aligned on the RB110 tonearm, whose bias is factory-set, and the 111 g counterweight is supplied ready to use. If you are still weighing up your options, our guide How to choose a turntable covers the questions to ask before buying.

Can the Rega Replay's platter be upgraded?

The original platter is made from a 23 mm phenolic sheet, optimised for speed stability. Together with the cartridge, it is one of the two elements to upgrade first on this turntable: the P2 Rega glass platter takes it further.

Is the Rega Carbon cartridge's stylus replaceable?

Yes, the Rega Carbon MM cartridge has a replaceable stylus. You can replace it like-for-like with the Rega Carbon stylus, or choose the Rega Carbon Pro stylus.
