Why does this set-up include a spacer?

Rega tonearms have no pillar height adjustment. The 2 mm stainless steel spacer sits between the RB330 arm's three fixing points and the turntable. It raises the arm by 2 mm, so a cartridge from another brand than Rega can be fitted while keeping a correct VTA.

Which phono preamplifier does the Dynavector Aska Low need?

This pack does not include a preamp. With its 0.3 mV output, the cartridge requires an MC phono preamplifier with at least 63 dB of gain and a resistive load between 80 and 150 ohms. Our page on phono preamplifiers explains these settings in more depth.

Is the turntable really ready to play on arrival?

Yes. Like all our turntables, sold individually or in packs, it is assembled, aligned and tested in our workshop before shipping: the cartridge is fitted and the spacer installed. To get the best from this ready-to-listen set-up, place it on a rigid, perfectly level surface; Rega considers wall mounts the best option.

What kind of sound can I expect from this combination?

The Planar 3 brings Rega's hallmark musicality: a coherent, well-balanced presentation, remarkable dynamics and exemplary rhythmic drive. The Aska Low adds a natural, lively midrange, fast and legible bass and an open soundstage. Micro-detail comes through especially well on classical music.
