Indiana Line Utah 5: Speakers
The Utah 5 is a 3-way floorstanding speaker that, in its name and construction, refers to the roots of the Indiana Line brand.
High frequencies are reproduced by a 26mm fabric dome tweeter. It is paired with an improved neodymium magnet system. It guarantees a subtle, yet open and spatial sound.
The midrange is entrusted to a superb 15 cm driver with a polypropylene cone. It operates in a specially separated chamber. This chamber receives specific damping that guarantees clarity and precision.
The bass is transmitted by a large 27 cm speaker, equipped with a powerful and efficient magnetic system. The polypropylene membrane ensures great rigidity and effectively attenuates resonances. It allows reproducing warm, deep and very precise bass. This speaker is placed in a bass-reflex cabinet with two vents that open under the base of the speaker.
The filter is based on the topology of other high-end 3-way models in the Indiana range, such as the Diva 6 and Tesi 6, the Utah 5.
With an efficiency of 94 dB and an impedance of 4 to 8 ohms, the Utah 5 pairs perfectly with a wide range of amplifiers.
Indiana Line Utah 5: Box Set
The Utah 5 are made of MDF with a PVC finish. They are available in two colors: black oak or light oak frames, both with a matte black front.
The Utah 5 is designed to sound its best when placed directly on the floor. Its cabinet features a slightly tapered rear edge, creating a natural slope that ensures ideal acoustic alignment of the speaker with the listener and listening space, without the need for additional stands.
This configuration minimizes floor reflections, significantly improving sound clarity and depth. For added versatility, the included optional rear feet allow placement on low shelves or consoles, where tilting the speaker is unnecessary.
Beneath the speaker is a Twin Port that improves the efficiency and quality of low-frequency reproduction. It operates without perceptible sound compression or air turbulence, even when reproducing deep bass at high volume. The height of the Utah 5 speaker stands was chosen to allow perfect airflow beneath the speaker. The proximity to the floor naturally accentuates the liveliness of the low frequencies.
The connection to the amplifier is made via a simple-wiring speaker terminal block. Of course, we recommend using a quality cable equipped with banana plugs.
Indiana Line Utah 5: Test and listen
From the first few minutes of listening, you'll notice that the Indiana Line Utah 5s deliver a rich and dynamic sound. By positioning them optimally, you'll achieve excellent spatialization.
The entire spectrum is reproduced with great naturalness and balance. The announced bandwidth of 38Hz – 22kHz! is very present! The bass is deep but very clean and without any “Boomy” effect. This part of the spectrum associated with the dynamics gives a demonstrative restitution and a surprising musicality
But the reproduction of voices and instruments is excellent. We find the rich and ample "vintage" reproduction that some music lovers prefer to modern speakers. The Indiana Line Utah 5 delivers soft and silky highs without any aggressiveness.
Versatility is a major asset of the Utah 5, its high efficiency and standard impedance allow it to be combined with a wide range of amplifiers. A 40 watt amp guarantees excellent dynamics and a high sound level.

Excellentes!
Bon, j'avoue avoir eu quelques appréhensions avant de les installer: à ce prix là, je ne m'attendais pas à des merveilles. Et pourtant, quel remarquable résultat! Ces enceintes sonnent juste, procurent un grave solide, défini, un bel équilibre à bas volume, et une fluidité souveraine sur l'ensemble du spectre sonore. A aucun moment je n'ai le sentiment d'écouter des HP presque low coast, au contraire. Il existe, bien sûr, plus détaillé, mais enfin, même l'audiophile exigeant ne pourra qu'apprécier cette écoute dense et confortable, naturelle et raffinée. Un grand bravo aux concepteurs, qui ont su offrir beaucoup de musique via des HP modestes. Preuve, si il en était besoin, que de vieilles recettes actualisées avec astuce permettent d'aller fort loin...
