Description

The Indiana Line Tesi 6 floor-standing speaker has been developed for small two-channel or multi-channel Hi-Fi installations. This small floor-standing speaker uses the recipes applied to the TESI range, but it receives new speakers, a better quality filter and more complex cabinetry.

INDIANA LINE TESI 6: FEATURES

The speaker is made of very rigid and reinforced MDF, which limits cabinet resonances. Transverse reinforcements in the form of horizontal rings have been placed at key locations throughout the height of the speaker to completely eliminate unwanted vibrations.
The top of the spectrum is reproduced by an excellent 26mm silk dome tweeter. This high frequency transducer has a radial damping chamber and a powerful neodymium magnet. Compared to previous Tesi models, the front shape of the tweeter has been modified. Instead of being round, it is now rectangular, this design improves the visual harmony between the tweeter and the main speaker.
The midrange is reproduced by a 160mm driver. This is equipped with a mica-polypropylene composite cone and Dual Wave suspension. This suspension was developed to extend the linear operating range of the transducer and minimize intermodulation distortion, particularly at low frequencies.
This HP is associated with a larger and more powerful magnet than the previous version. It also receives an inductance linearization ring which is decisive in the quality of this HP. The bass is reproduced by two 160mm drivers equipped with a mica-polypropylene composite cone and a Dual Wave suspension. This suspension helps minimize intermodulation distortion in low frequencies. These HPs are associated with larger and more powerful magnets than on the previous version. It also receives an inductance linearization ring which is decisive in the quality of this HP.
The components used help to achieve a low level of distortion and improve dynamics in low frequencies.
These speakers are loaded with Bass/Reflex via a port which opens below the enclosure. For this, the speaker rests on a cross base which lifts it a few centimeters from the ground and therefore allows low frequencies to be evacuated 360° below the speaker. This process offers little directivity and excellent dispersion of extreme bass.

Filtering uses air-wound chokes and polypropylene capacitors. It determines two cutoff frequencies, one at 300 Hz and another at 3000 Hz. The topology of the filter is inspired by solutions used in the manufacturer's high-end models. The designers have maintained the same quality of components, ensuring a consistent impedance characteristic, high efficiency, low distortion levels and optimal sound dispersion.
The internal damping is entrusted to a non-woven synthetic foam of high purity, known to be an excellent absorber of the internal resonances of the speakers. Additionally, this polyester is extremely resistant to stretching, drying and moisture.
Connection to the amplifier is made via a simple, high-quality gold-plated terminal block. It accepts bare wires, banana plugs and spades.

INDIANA LINE THESIS 6: INSTALLATION

We tested the Indiana Line Tesi 6 with a 70 watt amplifier. We recommend that you space them between 2.50m and 3.20m and keep them at least 30cm from the rear wall. They will be comfortable in rooms with a surface area greater than 25 m².

INDIANA LINE TESI 6: TEST AND LISTENING

The first measures were a real surprise! They offer a surprising soundstage in both width and depth. The bass is very deep and articulate. They offer a great impact, while being very readable. The bass drums and double basses are transcribed with great realism. Given the still reasonable size of the Tesi 6, offering such a wide bandwidth (35 - 22000 Hz) is remarkable.
The voices are transcribed with great cleanliness and transparency. The midrange is in my opinion the strong point of the Indiana Line speakers and this is the case with the Tesi 6. The different instruments are perfectly readable and well defined. It offers beautiful clarity in the midrange frequencies while retaining the material which gives surprising realism. The treble is perfectly integrated with the other registers, and we salute here the choice of an excellent silk dome tweeter. Indeed, this technology provides enormous detail and precision without excessive shine. The top of the spectrum is never aggressive and does not rise artificially as is often the case with speakers in this range.
The Indiana Line Tesi 6 is very comfortable with modern music, and particularly with pop, rock and blues, but it does not disappoint with classical music and particularly with orchestral masses.
Of course, with a speaker offered at this price, we cannot achieve the level of resolution and performance of more ambitious models. But at the price offered, the Tesi 6 seems to offer more qualities than its competitors which in columns 3 votes are not legion.
