SONUS FABER SONETTO III G2 : DESIGN

The Sonetto III G2 features the distinctive boat-hull shape characteristic of the brand’s latest models, with numerous modifications and improvements. It stands as an elegant speaker over one meter tall, weighing more than 25 kg. Like all Sonus Faber speakers, the Sonetto III G2 is beautifully crafted, available in finishes such as Black Lacquer, Wenge, and Walnut. The surround of the midrange/tweeter is covered in leather. This 2.5-way bass-reflex speaker is designed for medium-sized spaces (between 18 and 35 m²).

SONUS FABER SONETTO III G2 : DRIVERS

Bass reproduction is handled by a 165 mm cellulose fiber driver with a new die-cast aluminum chassis, ensuring high rigidity, low resonance, and light weight. It is electrically filtered by the same module as the midrange but housed in its own cavity. Its bass/reflex port opens at the base of the speaker, delivering 360° dispersion. The midrange is managed by a similar 165 mm driver with a rubber surround connected to the cone by a floral pattern. This asymmetric shape disrupts circular modes, ensuring more linear movement and improved sound reproduction by reducing interference and enhancing dispersion. It is housed in its own bass/reflex cavity, opening at the rear of the speaker. For high frequencies, a 28 mm DAD dome tweeter is used, isolated from the cabinet by a viscoelastic joint to limit distortions and disturbances. This tweeter is filtered at 2.7 kHz. The base of the Sonetto III G2 is made of a concrete composite, enhancing stability and structural integrity. This innovative addition minimizes vibrations, ensuring optimal performance. The base is equipped with decoupling spikes for improved sound reproduction. The drivers can be hidden behind a two-part rigid black jersey grille, attached magnetically.

Setup is relatively straightforward. For optimal results, pairing with a high-quality amplifier and source is recommended. Placement is crucial for these speakers, with results varying from acceptable to remarkable depending on optimization. Excellent results were achieved by spacing the speakers 2.8 meters apart and positioning them 70 cm from the rear wall.
