Indiana Line Tesi 561 tower speakers

The Indiana Line Tesi 561 speaker has been developed for small two-channel or multi-channel Hi-Fi installations. This speaker builds on the design principles applied in the Tesi 261, but in a floor-standing version with an additional bass driver.

INDIANA LINE TESI 561: FEATURES

The speaker is constructed from very rigid MDF, which helps limit cabinet resonance. To completely eliminate unwanted vibrations, Indiana Line has placed several transverse reinforcements in the form of horizontal rings at key points along the height of the speaker.

The high frequencies are reproduced by an excellent 26 mm silk dome tweeter. The midrange is handled by a 166 mm driver with a mica-polypropylene cone. This is complemented in the low frequencies by a 166 mm driver with a natural cellulose cone. This bass driver is in a Bass/Reflex configuration with a port located in the middle of the speaker's front panel. The placement away from the floor is an excellent choice, facilitating room placement. The crossover uses air-wound coils and polypropylene capacitors, determining the crossover frequencies at 180 and 2800 Hz.

Internal damping is achieved using a high-purity, non-woven synthetic foam known for its excellent internal resonance damping properties.

The connection to the amplifier is via a high-quality gold-plated double binding post, designed for bi-wiring or bi-amplification. It accepts bare wires, banana plugs, and spades.

INDIANA LINE TESI 561: INSTALLATION

We tested the Indiana Line Tesi 561 with a quality amplifier offering around fifty watts. We recommend spacing them 2.5 to 3 meters apart and placing them at least 25 cm from the rear wall. They perform well in rooms with an area between 18 to 25 m².

INDIANA LINE TESI 561: TEST AND LISTENING

Initial measurements show a surprising soundstage in both width and depth. This is likely due to the quality of the drivers and the excellent low-frequency reproduction. The bass is articulated, clear, and deep, offering a solid impact.

The midrange is reproduced with a lot of naturalness and ease. There is no sense of strain or harshness. There is a slight coloration that makes this part of the spectrum a bit flattering, which is not problematic for a speaker in this range; on the contrary, it helps mask the unpleasant effects of certain recordings. The tweeter delivers very smooth highs, perfectly integrated with the midrange, providing excellent balance.

The Indiana Line Tesi 561 excels with modern music, particularly pop, rock, and blues.

Of course, with a speaker offered at this price, one cannot expect the level of resolution and neutrality of more ambitious models. But at the proposed price, it seems to offer more qualities than its competitors. The Indiana Line Tesi 561 provides comfortable listening for hours without auditory fatigue.
