Focal Theva Series: Successor to the Chora Line

The new Focal Theva series succeeds the Focal Chora line of speakers. The standout feature of the Theva series is the introduction of a new driver and, most notably, the new slate-colored membrane called "Slatefiber." The series includes three Hi-Fi speaker models: two floor-standing and one bookshelf. They feature a contemporary design that differs significantly from the previous range.

FOCAL THEVA N°2: SLATEFIBER TECHNOLOGY

The Focal Theva N°2 is a three-way Bass reflex floor-standing speaker. The midrange and bass drivers are equipped with the new Slatefiber membrane.

Slatefiber technology, exclusive to Focal, utilizes recycled non-woven carbon fibers sandwiched between two layers of thermoplastic polymer. The fibers are aligned in the same direction to achieve greater rigidity and better damping. Manufactured in France using sophisticated industrial tools, this lightweight slate-effect membrane provides superior damping and rigidity compared to cellulose membranes.

FOCAL THEVA N°2: DRIVERS

The 13 cm midrange driver is enclosed in a sealed baffle, while the two 13 cm bass drivers operate in a bass reflex configuration, utilizing a rear-vented design. All these drivers feature the recycled carbon fiber Slatefiber membrane.

High frequencies are handled by a new 25 mm TNF tweeter with an aluminum/magnesium (Al/Mg) alloy membrane. This technology offers less directional sound while remaining smooth and precise, with an impressive high-frequency response up to 28 kHz. The inverted dome design also reduces directivity and enhances spatialization.

FOCAL THEVA N°2: CABINET

The entire Theva series, including the Focal Theva N°2 floor-standing speaker, has been aesthetically revamped. It is available in either a lacquered black synthetic finish or a wood grain veneer in light or dark tones. The drivers are concealed behind a magnetically attached fabric grille.

Designed for small spaces, the Theva N°2 has a minimal footprint, making it only slightly larger than a bookshelf speaker on a stand. It is mounted on a base that tilts it slightly backward to optimize the phase alignment of the drivers (Time Alignment).

FOCAL THEVA N°2: INSTALLATION

This compact floor-standing speaker is ideal for spaces ranging from 15 to over 30 square meters. Its reduced dimensions allow for easy placement even in cluttered rooms. It is an excellent alternative to two-way stand-mounted speakers. With a rear port, it requires at least 25 cm of space between the back of the speaker and the wall.

The speaker connects to the amplifier via a high-quality single terminal that accepts bare wire, banana plugs, or spades.
