The dimensions of the device are quite large for a device in this range.
Le Marantz CD60 is housed in a chassis that makes it a bit more "bulky" than its competitors. This gives a real impression of quality and solidity.
Of course, we find the magnificent façade and the "neo-retro" design of theintegrated amplifier Model 40N.
In the center, there is the mechanism and below it the display, with the buttons on each side providing access to the main functions. These and many others can be found on the remote control supplied as standard with the device.
In addition, there is a headphone output on a jack. 6.35mm with an adjustable volume, with three gain settings (a feature generally absent from most players). This headphone output has its own HDAM-SA2 amplification stage.
On the front panel, there is also a USB-A input compatible with Hi-Res files and capable of playing a wide variety of music formats. With a USB stick or an SSD drive, you can even play high-resolution PCM files up to 192 kHz/24 bits, or DSD files up to DSD128.
MARANTZ CD60: REAR PANEL
The back of the device offers simple but effective connections: an analog output on two gold-plated RCA connectors and two digital outputs in the respective formats of Toslink optical and coaxial SPDIF.
Two RCA input/output jacks allow connection to Marantz amplifiers (such as the Model 40N) and can share their IR remote receiver and remote control.
MARANTZ CD60: CHARACTERISTICS
The reading mechanism is capable of reading Audio CDs and CD-R/RW (MP3, WMA).
For this model, Marantz uses the excellent ESS ES9016K2M digital-to-analog converter (DAC). It is paired with 2 filters: filter 1 is supposed to be the closest to the traditional Marantz sound, while filter 2 is a bit more lively and offers punchier bass.
The team of engineers at Marantz created this CD player to deliver sound as close as possible to the original master. To achieve this, the proprietary HDAM SA2 circuit was optimized compared to its previous version by placing the components symmetrically on the audio board to create the shortest and most direct signal path possible.
This modification greatly improves the soundstage rendering compared to previous models.
The power supply has not been forgotten either. It uses high-speed, high-current Schottky barrier diodes, large-capacity capacitors with high current ratings. The voltage regulators have been greatly improved compared to previous models. The oversized capacitors in the power supply improve current stability and reduce noise.
The headphone output is designed around the excellent Marantz HDAM-SA2 module.
The Marantz CD60 is equipped with an asynchronous USB input dedicated to high-resolution audio, PCM 24b/192 Khz.
MARANTZ CD60: TEST AND LISTENING
From the very first measurements, we are surprised by the stability and realism demonstrated by this player.
The playback is detailed but never "clinical" and above all, it offers superb fluidity. The instruments are rendered with a lot of presence and realism. The CD60 is very "organic" and the timbres are rich and beautifully reproduced.
The listening experience is very immersive and envelops you in the music without any frustration or auditory fatigue. The midrange "sounds" very analog but without trying to "filter" either. The voices are present and very smooth, never showing any aggression. The slightly soft and warm character of the CD60 in no way hinders its dynamics and clarity across the entire frequency range. The soundstage is surprising! It resembles what you get with a very good analog turntable.
LeMarantz CD60 CD playerIs a remarkable device and offers extraordinary musicality for its price. The build and its "look" also make it a very desirable device. We know of no competitor for it.

Excellent lecteur
Tout est dit dans présentation de ce lecteur sur le site. Cette machine est étonnante pour son prix. Non seulement ce lecteur est beau; la façade est à la fois classique et moderne pour un appareil qui est assez imposant. Mais il surprend dès les premiers disques. La mise en route est quasi intuitive ( j'avais déjà un Marantz). C'est un instrument de musique. Le son est chaud, très détaillé mais en même temps très doux. Jamais on ne se sent agressé. Au contraire, on tout est fluide et musical quel que soit le style de musique écouté. J'ai tout essayé à part le rap et le hard-rock qui ne sont pas ma tasse de thé. Je peux enfin apprécier le livre-album de Chris Rea, "Blue guitars" qui n'est pas sorti en vinyl (11 cds et 1 Dvd). C'est aussi une histoire du blues avec de magnifiques parties de slide et une prise de son excellente. Ce lecteur permet d'envisager sereinement la sortie de nouveaux albums classiques qui se font majoritairement en Cd. Dernier point, la lecture de fichiers Flac sur clé USB se fait sans souci avec la télécommande et la qualité d'écoute est excellente.
Beau et excellent... Que demander de plus!!!
