The SSC Twinbase base consists of two 24mm-thick MDF plates. And between these two plates, the manufacturer has fitted 18 Netpoint 100 pucks. These Netpoint pucks are made of an absorbent membrane sandwiched between 2 aluminium plates.
The SSC Twinbase can be placed under very heavy equipment. Manufacturer SSC claims that it can handle equipment weighing up to 100kg! However, we would not recommend using it with amps, turntables or speakers weighing over 80kg so as to avoid putting too much strain on the pucks. This will give you a slightly bigger margin of error! This SSC technology has been designed to improve the sound quality of a wide variety of different audio equipment, including CD players, amplifiers, vinyl turntables, speakers, and tube electronics.
And the results are immediately perceptible – not to mention incredible! Underneath a heavy record player, CD player or amp, the SSC Twinbase works wonders, stripping the reproduction of unwanted mechanical interference completely. The overall sound quality is clearer and more precise. The sound stage is more present and tangible. And from the opening bars the bass is noticeably more well-articulated, with a more sustained dynamic range.
The SSC Twinbase base is also a good solution if you're having problems with resonance and vibration coming from the ground, from a subwoofer or powerful speakers for instance. We got excellent results when we tried it out with a powerful integrated tube amplifier.
It also offers exceptional value and musicality for your money! And, of course, we highly recommend it for use with a vinyl turntable, too!
