The SSC Solobase base consists of an 25mm-thick MDF plate. The manufacturer has fitted it out with 11 Netpoint 100 pucks. They are embedded within the plinth, raising it up a few millimetres above the surface it sits on. These Netpoint pucks are made of an absorbent membrane sandwiched between 2 aluminium plates.
The SSC Solobase can be placed under very heavy equipment. Manufacturer SSC claims that it can handle equipment weighing up to 80kg! However, we would not recommend using it with amps, turntables or speakers weighing over 65kg. This will give you a slightly wider margin of error!
And the results are well worth the investment. Underneath a record player or amp, the SSC Solobase works wonders, stripping the reproduction of unwanted mechanical interference completely. The overall sound quality is clearer and more precise. The sound stage is more present and a lot more tangible. And from the opening bars the bass is noticeably more well-articulated, with a more sustained dynamic range. The SSC Solobase base is also a good solution if you're having problems with resonance and vibration from the ground, for instance from a subwoofer or powerful speakers.
It also offers exceptional value and musicality for your money! Highly recommended! Franck
