The new CD players in the Evolution series benefit from many innovations. The power supplies, conversion and audio stages have been completely redesigned.
Atoll CD 50 EVO : façade
Of course, there is the superb aluminium façade, which is now the trademark of the manufacturer Atoll on its «EVO» products. It is available in black or natural aluminum.

The CD50 EV0 comes in a metallic case with a superb front (silver or black) brushed aluminum of 4mm! This façade is of course based on the new design of EVO products from Atoll.
This front is very clean, but offers the essential functions accessible via 6 keys (3+3) placed on each side of the drawer opening (read, stop, pause, front/back...). Under it is a blue low-power OLED display. It gives the different reading information.
The rear panel offers a stereo analog output and 2 digital outputs: one coaxial S/PDIF format and a Toslink optical.
Atoll CD50 EVO : caractéristiques
This CD player has the new TEAC Pure Audio CD mechanics optimized to reduce jitter. It is mounted on a central anti-resonance frame to avoid any vibration harmful to the reading.
The CD50 EVO accepts CD, CD-R, CD-RW in MP3, WMA and AAC formats. It is also compatible with the CD Text if the disc has this feature.
In order to limit all interference, Atoll has opted for 4 regulated power supplies dedicated to analog and digital. A transformer is used specifically for the audio stages.
The analog output stages are symmetric and have discrete components fully polarized in Class A.
The digital part is built around the excellent Burr-Brown PCM1791 A conversion chip. It offers a resolution of 24 bits/192 kHz.
This EVO CD player can also be equipped with the optional ATOLL DC 200 digital card with 3 digital inputs: a coaxial input (24Bits/192kHz), an optical input (24Bits/192kHz) and an asynchronous USB-B input.
Atoll CD50 EVO: test and listen
The Atoll CD50 EVO CD player takes over all of its predecessor, but with a better expressiveness and a timbre certainly even more realistic.
This very balanced and neutral reader. There is a superb dynamic and excellent transparency throughout the spectrum.
This CD player is «loud» and clear, and surprises with its spontaneity and generosity.
The medium register offers a beautiful harmonic richness associated with a very beautiful transparency. It looks more organic and offers more sensitivity than the previous model. The low register is large enough to reproduce an organ or a grand piano. Of course it is expressed perfectly and with consistency and hold non an electric bass or a double bass.
Jazz, rock and classical music lovers will undoubtedly appreciate this part of the spectrum and the fluidity with which this CD50 EVO Atoll is expressed.
This Atoll CD50 EVO CD player is superbly built and offers superb flawless musicality. It meets the demand of music lovers and audiophiles exigenat having a tight budget!

Satisfaction totale
Par rapport à mon ancien lecteur ( un Micromega basic qui avait plus de 30 ans ) , le son est bien plus ample, détaillé et transparent.. Les basses et les médiums sont plus présents et le son remplit la pièce. Totalement satisfait de mon achat ! Et en plus, c'est fabriqué en France.
