The Gold Note brand
Founded in 2012 by Maurizio Aterini, Gold Note is the first Italian manufacturer in the high-end audio and analogue field: turntables, phono preamps, phono cartridges, separate power supplies… Gold Note offers a full range allowing to set up a complete Hi-Fi system.
As a music lover, Maurizio Aterini is especially attached to the art of audio reproduction. In fact, he wishes to conceive all his Hi-Fi devices with high-end materials and, what is more, from Italy! A philosophy which allowed Gold Note to become a brand renowned in the whole world in less than 10 years!
Gold Note turntables: Italian craftsmanship and expertise
Born in Florence (Italy), Gold Note honours a whole expertise and the quality of the Italian craftsmanship. We find these elements in all their products, and especially their turntables. On maPlatine.com, we propose you to discover two ranges of Gold Note turntables: “Valore 425” and “The Italian Turntable”, including a total of 5 models.
Gold Note Valore 425 Lite and Valore 425 Plus turntables
The range of Valore 425 turntables matches Gold Note entry level, and consists of 2 references: Valore 425 Lite and Valore 425 Plus . The latter is an improved version of the first one.
The Valore 425 Lite and Valore 425 Plus turntables have several similarities: a 30 mm MDF chassis, a thick platter, a belt drive principle, a 9-inch tonearm and a high-quality phono cable. The Valore 425 Lite is only offered in a nice black finish, while the Valore 425 Plus is offered in several stylish finishes: silver, Italian walnut, acrylic or black. These two turntables are supplied without phono cartridge, but they can be paired with a large selection of MM or MC cartridges.
From the musical side, we immediately noted the excellent balance of these Gold Note Valore 425, between transparency, dynamic range and nuance. The reproduction is as good as analogue can get. And the Valore 425 Plus goes even further, with swing and realism. We were astonished by this level of musicality and performances for turntables of this price range! And we aren’t the only ones since they received lots of awards from the specialised press these past few years: Hi-Fi Choice, Hi-Fi+, Hi-Fi Pig, OnTopAudio…
Gold Note Pianosa turntable
The Pianosa turntable is the most affordable turntable of “The Italian Turntable” range from Gold Note. We have here similar elements from the Valore 425 Plus, but also clear improvements. On the outside, the Gold Note Pianosa is distinguished by its double plinth, with a half wave shaped curved lower part, manufactured by Italian craftsmen. It is also equipped with an even better 9-inch tonearm, the B-5.1 from Gold Note (Go to the Gold Note B-5.1 tonearm page for more information).
Like all previous models, the Gold Note Pianosa turntable offers a balanced and musical reproduction. The Pianosa offers a nice instrument timbre et voices full of realism. The emotion is clearly present with this Gold Note turntable!
Gold Note Giglio turntable
The Gold Note Giglio turntable is the second model from “The Italian Turntable” range. We have here some of the characteristics from the Pianosa, like the double plinth with the half wave shaped lower part or the B-5.1 tonearm. The Giglio motor was improved to get a better speed stability and therefore a better accuracy.
Besides being very pretty and well finished, the Gold Note Giglio offers superb audio performances. The reproduction is as balanced and musical as ever. The soundstage is wide, in 3D with a very accurate placement of the instruments and therefore a remarkable realism. This Giglio turntable from the Italian brand is one of our favourites!
Gold Note Mediterraneo turntable
The Gold Note Mediterraneo turntable is the most ambitious model from “The Italian Turntable” range. Like previous models, the Mediterraneo is provided with the same elements, but these ones received lots of improvements allowing to offer high-end audio performances.
We have here the Gold Note signature aesthetic, with a high-quality Italian manufacture as usual. A special mention goes to the very stylish golden finish! The upper part is manufactured in Sustarin, a material offering a better rigidity and vibration absorption. The total weight of the turntable was increased. Gold Note also offers two possible options in terms of tonearm: the B-5.1 tonearm or the B-7 Ceramic high-precision tonearm.
Just like its manufacture and components, the playback of this Gold Note Mediterraneo is of the highest quality! The reproduction is vibrant, nuanced, dynamic and full of emotions. In fact, it was praised by the specialised press (Hi-Fi News, Hi-Fi Choice, HiFi Pig, The Audiophile Man, Positive Feedback…) and earned lots of prestigious awards which says a lot about its performances. This high-end turntable is a nice success and shows all the expertise from Gold Note!
