LOST ANIMAL – Ex Tropical (Hardly Art record)

Lost Animal - Ex Tropical
The Australian duo consists of the charismatic singer Jarrod Quarrell and bass-player Shag Chamberlain. They have post Rock (New Wave) influences, with a heavy rock and suave voice. A combination of bass, synth and drum machine from the 80’s! This is clearly my top pick of the moment … It’s really indie in the purest meaning of the term and it really looks the part! Listen to ‘Lose the baby’!

AGNES OBEL – Citizen Of Glass (Pias)

Agnes Obel - Citizen of Glass

The latest work of the talented and pleasant Danish singer Agnes Obel… She moved to Berlin a few years ago, maybe seeking inspiration there and following in the footsteps of many other artists, who have been doing the same for a number of decades. Anyway, ‘Citizen of Class’ is amazingly produced and superbly interpreted. This album is evidence of the artist’s ability to change positively. The track ‘Familiar’ is amazing, it sounds like a duet. But actually, the second voice is her own through a Tune Box. There are also more arrangements and electronics that on the previous albums. The piano and cello are less prominent in this album. Of course, the one track on the album that you can’t miss is the opening track ‘Stretch your eyes’. A must-have!

CASH SAVAGE – One Of Us (Beast record)

Cash Savage - One of Us

‘One Of Us’ is Australian-born Cash Savage’s third album. It follows ‘The Hypnotiser’ (2013) and ‘Wolf’ (2011). This album was the shock of the month, both on record and live! Cash is none other than Conway Savage’s niece, the Bad Seed’s keyboard player (Nick Cave!). I’m not sure whether that helps at all… In any case, it doesn’t seem to do any harm! This album is amazing, both musically and in terms of production! I will let you take a listen to the wild ‘Run With The Dogs’, the romantic ‘My friend’ and ‘Port’ to find out for yourselves. You definitely need this album in your collection! But hurry, it is only a limited edition on vinyl…
