ABSOLUE CABLE TIM ESSENTIAL XLR: CHARACTERISTICS

The Absolue Cable Tim-Essential XLR interconnect cable uses three OFC copper multi-strand conductors.

Brown ones are insulated by a polyethylene sheath. The shielding is made from a copper braiding. Absolue Cable called on famous Swiss manufacturer Neutrik for their XLR connectors.

The outer sheath is made of PVC/black polyester ensuring excellent sturdiness while staying flexible.

The Absolue Cable Tim-Essentiel XLR interconnect cable is also provided with a wiring direction materialised by a large white ring with modulation direction and serial number on it. The direction is important because it takes into account the interconnect cable conception using braid shielding mounted in floating mass. On balanced cables however, male and female connectors can’t lead to confusion.

Playback is similar to the RCA unbalanced version. From the first few measures, we are surprised by the content and level of details offered by this interconnect cable. There’s an excellent balance which doesn’t seem to favour any particular register. Apart from the extraordinary transparency, bass and deep bass is the most surprising element from this Absolue Cable Tim-Essentiel XLR interconnect cable. Compared to our reference cable, the low end of the spectrum seems to receive an additional octave without losing in definition or impacting the register. On the contrary, bass remains vibrant, detailed and offers remarkable articulation.

Of course, it has an impact on the soundstage which is reproduced with rare width and depth for a cable from this price range. Musician placement is still very obvious and no projection effect is noticed.
